Dax Paragon amplifies the pain

Out of all the amplifiers in the game, Dax stands out as my favourite because of his smug face. I've always wished that this particular monster was a legendary neutral unit, rather than an epic life unit.

In terms of ability, Dax isn't exactly imposing but the look on his face as he amplifies the hurt is reminiscent of a middle finger. In fact, I think this monster would have been better designed with a middle finger pointed towards the screen, to let my opponents know that a smug asshole is about to destroy them.

Life monsters tend to be smug, anyway. Their design often depicts the impression that they genuinely feel like they're better than everyone.

Truth be told, maybe they're better and just misunderstood. However, it matters not in this case, as it was a life vs life battle that went in my favour,

The battle

Almost any battle that I use Ilthain is often accompanied by Dax Paragon. In fact, the only times I don't use them as a team is when the ruleset doesn't permit or in high man's battles.

The rule sets that I typically don't use them together include no magic, melee mayhem for obvious reasons, monsters' special abilities turned off and/or summoner buffs off. In every other rule set, I always use Ilthain and Dax as a team and they're largely successful.

My team for this battle was rather easy to pick. This selection of monsters is basically my "go-to" selection for every time I have a low or almost low mana battle to play.

The Tank

In the front of the pile, we have this fairly weak but efficient magic reflector for the opponent to contend with. When combined with this summoner, this monster transforms into a fairly weak and melee damage producing version of Lord Arianthus.

The main reason I use this monster and not xxxx(flying life monster with no attack) is because I like my tanks to at least offer some form of attack. In reality, the +1 attack is a side show, the main ability I need is the magic reflection.

Flying Opportunist

This is a pretty standard set up for me in rule sets where the monsters special abilities function. I put this birdie in and it mops up all the weak points.

Amplifier

The main event and another monster that is a usual in my lineup, we have Dax. Listen, if you hate this monster because it looks like a smug son of a bitch, you'd be right but you can't deny it's usefulness.

Dax is one of the few Chaos Legion monsters that I genuinely think is undervalued by the community. A magic user with amplifier that only costs two mana? No brainer, I need it.

It oozes

Creeping ooze was put in the battle reduce the speed of the opponent, particularly when my Celestial Harpy becomes the tank.

Another speed reducer

Just like creeping ooze, this monster was also put in place to reduce the speed of my opponent. Extra point that it also offers magic attack.

Tank Healer

Finally, there's my tank healer that also has a ranged attack.

This is a pretty standard lineup for me and Dax was the main event. It was an easy victory and you can watch the whole battle here
