Good guys versus Bad guys: A year later

I was raised to believe that there are only two types of people in this world. There are the good guys and then the bad guys. If you're not a good guy, then you're a bad guy and if you're not bad, means you're good. However, my experiences in life have taught me differently.

In the crypto universe and much like life itself, it is always good guys versus bad guys. The good guys create a better world for everyone and the bad guys shit on everyone by playing sneaky tricks. However, there's that touchy part of the grey area that we all like to avoid because it divides opinion.

As my dad used to say whenever I exclaimed at all the atrocities Hitler committed, no matter how evil you are, you will always have followers. We sit on our high horse and criticise evil people for all their wrongdoings.

The evildoer on the other hand simply has to brainwash a bunch of people in high places to join his cause, and all our whinings fall on deaf ears. The "neutral" in the top positions don't actually have to do anything because first of all, they're most likely immune to the situation and secondly, some of them would even gladly watch it burn to the ground, so they can capitalise on the ashes.

In the cryptospace, we have certain figures that fall into the category of bad guys, people in the good guy space and then we have John McAfee who I have no idea which space he falls into. This article isn't about him and while he's the cover image, I hope you'll forgive the clickbait as you upvote me.

The other side

Say what you want about the fraud that is Justin Sun but the man has figured out how to effortlessly play the bad guy role. He knows who to get in bed with and will stop at nothing to achieve his target.

Take his recent schemes that involve a bunch of Hollywood celebrities all tweeting about Tron or a related project some time ago.

It is all 100% cringe that ALL these celebrities miraculously just know about cryptocurrencies, and suddenly want Tron; not ETH, not Bitcoin, Not Binance(which would also be cringe) but Tron.

However, that's the thing about bad guys in the general scheme of things. They don't care about their cringe ratings, they don't care about looks, appearances. Nope, nothing like that ever matters to them.

Stroll down memory lane and you'll see what I mean. Like, can you imagine how people close to Hitler would have felt when he said he wanted to kill millions of jews? Pretty sure more than one person cringed at the idea.

The other other side

So that's the thing about the bad guys, they don't care about a lot of things that the good guys care about. That's also why they often have an advantage over the good guys.

While good guys are busy carving out ways to mitigate problems related to global warming, ethics and all that, the bad guys are out there doing whatever they can to get things done. Whether it involves bribing, murder, extortion and other vices, they'll get things done.

Would things be better if good guys acted more like bad guys? If the good guys could ignore their moral high ground and employ underhanded tactics to achieving things that will be beneficial for all, would life be better?

As we've just officially turned 1 year today, these questions come to mind. We won the battle and got our Hive. The community seems more close-knit than we've ever been and a lot of development has taken place.

However, we took a step back just to catapult ourselves into a better future, which is fine, but will that always be how we fix things? Are we well prepared for present and future challenges? Do we have all the necessary tools? Are we moving in the same direction despite our differences?

While we all celebrate our one-year-old baby's birthday, I hope we'll keep these things in mind and ensure that we're always working towards the improvement of the community. At the end of the day, that's really all that matters.
