I've been letting my energy Capture rate breathe in recent times and despite playing fewer games than usual, I'm on course to having my most productive season in a long time. This move has seen me get more daily chests and considering that I'm still well below my target ECR, I'm still pleased with the result so far.

Right now, my plan is to allow my energy capture rate to climb back up to 100% and then strategically drain it from there. To profitably achieve my plan will require implementing a suitable ranked battling strategy.

Anyway, in recent times, I've learnt something quite fascinating about the way energy capture rate behaves. It is still not confirmed but from my preliminary observation, it does seem like the bringing rate varies with the amount of ECR you have at the time.

To be specific, what I've noticed is that as my ECR rises, my account seems to burn ECR slower. I observed this in the past couple of days where my ECR has risen from 30% range to a bit over 60%.

From my observation, my account burns ECR much slower when in the 60% range than it does when I was in the 30% range. In some battles in the 30% range, my account could burn up to 3%, meanwhile, I around 1% per battle when in the 60% range.

As I said, this is just an observation from activities in my account and there are probably more profound reasons behind the way ECR drains in my account. I'll keep observing as my ECR climbs through the gears on the way to 100%.

Gold foils and RP

I've been adding Gold foils to my collection in recent times and so far so good, they have actually improved the number of points and SPS I receive from battles.

Since I'm stuck chasing Gold chests, I don't have any option but to find out ways to get more rating points from battles. Gold foils look like the best option and whit the newer generation of gold foils being so cheap, I'm starting to consider splurging on a few cheap options available in the market.

I don't necessarily have to buy a full deck of gold foils when I can simply just prioritise some of my favourites like Serpentine Spy, Cerberus, and a couple of other commons and rares that I usually use in my team. Some will be rented and others rented but the most important thing is that they are part of the action.

One thing that I've still not been able to bring myself to do is actually combine gold foils because I generally have no intention of using them to battle. However, with this gold foil realisation, I think I will be upgrading a select list of cheap gold foils that I'll throw into battle.

Climbing up the ranks in Splinterlands is a daunting and expensive task that requires patience and a lot of investment. You need to invest a decent chunk of funds and time into constantly improving your deck. Hopefully, the market will swing in favour of the game in the long run and I'll go back to living off my Splinterlands assets as I always intended to.
