You could be having a very normal day and problems just decide to hit you from left field. Yesterday, my wife's phone decided it was going to quit on all of us and just like that, the charging port stopped working.

There was literally no direct event that I'm aware of, that could have led to the problem. However, what we know for sure is that her phone doesn't charge anymore.

I got this phone for her around March last year, so it has already been over a year. However, we both don't have any intentions to buy a new phone anytime soon, but things have to change now.

We're taking the phone to a Samsung repair shop where, hopefully, they'll be able to get it back to normal. However, with these things, my principle is that immediately after my device shows any sign of weakness, I start planning to buy a new phone.

This is such a weird time for this problem to surface and sometimes, it makes you wonder how the universe works.

Sometime last month, I found out my laptop battery was bad and I had get a new one, which pushed me back around $70. Prior to that, I had to buy a car battery, and fix the HUD rearview mirror as well because it decided to fall off.

Life is weird

We make a decent living off crypto and we've largely managed our finances to the best of our ability. We don't have the resources to splurge but we still try to have a good time, every now and then.

These days, we redirect all our spare funds into different crypto assets, which includes Luna that is probably dead, Travala with huge potential, Leo tokens and a couple of others. We also have investments in hive-engine, and in a bunch of other investment spread across crypto land.

On top of all that, there's also the little matter of our rent that we have to renew in July. It doesn't ever get easier.

The problem is that we're trying to build sustainable income through strategic moves but life's problems won't leave us alone. This, in turn, eats into our spare funds that would have been used to invest in a variety of assets that are some distance away from their ATHs and have potential.

Anyway, we're going to get the phone fixed today but at the same time, we're going to be saving towards buying another phone in the near future. We've not set any target date but I reckon it'll be within a one year period, while she's managing this current device.

I'm not going to lie tough, I'm quite disappointed in the way this Samsung device died. You'd think that we'll get at least two years from one of Samsung's premium mid-range devices but that wasn't the case.

So we now have another expenditure waiting for us in the near future, and from today henceforth, we now have to start saving towards it. A couple hundred dollars will do the trick and I think we'll be good for it.
