It is time again for another Finance Friday/Friday Finance. This is a series I started where I talk about random bits of financial stuff that I have seen, gathered, or experienced during the week. I hope as a reader you find it informational, entertaining, or both. I also hope it can generate some good discussion and edify the Leo community.

I am a little excited and a little sad as I write this final Friday Finance post of 2021. Despite all the extra crap that Covid threw at us, 2021 was a pretty exciting year. We saw a couple of big pumps, a couple of big dips, and a lot of interest and growth in cryptocurrency from a wide range of places.

I usually try to take notes through the week about stuff I want to talk about in this post. I have a longer than usual list today, so let me get to it.

Personal Achievements

Quite some time ago I wrote about how the end of the year is always exciting for me because it is the time that I find out what my traditional investments have earned me in capital gains and dividends.

As much as I love cryptocurrency, I believe it is important to diversify your holdings and the sooner in life you can start building a traditional portfolio, the better.

I actually think I was a bit behind the curve and didn't start investing money as soon as I should, but I am happy to say that my holdings this year gave me just about $15,000 USD in extra revenue via dividends and capital gains.

I'm not mad about that!

Rplanet Staking Changes

If you follow the RPlanet game over on WAX at all, you probably know that their in-game token Aether has been a bit broken for quite some time. They created a way for people to mine it via their NFTs, but they never really created a good method for burning it.

Thus, people were creating Aether right and left to the point that it is now worth hardly anything. What could have been a lucrative play 2 earn game has become something of a joke among early investors.

I am happy to announce they have plans to implement Staking 2.0 and this could go a long way towards locking up some of the liquid Aether that is out there. I hope it gives us some of the results we have been hoping for.

Basically, instead of just being able to stake all of your NFTs, they are only going to allow 21 projects to be stake-able. Holders can vote on the 21 projects they want to see giving out rewards by using/locking their existing Aether to vote.

Personally, I have 160m Aether which might seem like a decent vote, but compared to people I know who are sitting on 7B Aether, I don't know how much I will participate in the voting. I might just wait and see what happens with the price and then sell sell sell.

Shout-out to the LEO Team

As much as I really want to see PolyCUB released, I think it is cool that the LEO team and I think @khaleelkazi specifically made the decision not to release something like that during the holidays.

The Million On Mars project didn't make the same decision and they had a sale on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day that I wasn't able to participate in due to family obligations. I know several other people who had the same issue.

I brought it up (not the most tactfully) in their Discord and was lambasted with people telling me things like not everyone is a Christian (blah blah blah). While I understand that, it should be noted that non Christians also celebrate Christmas even though it has been largely co-opted as a Christian holiday.

I just really appreciate the team understanding that people of all countries and religions have their attentions divided this time of year and it might not be the best time for a major project launch.

Where You At?

Finally, I just want to say I hope that everyone has a healthy and prosperous year in 2022. It is funny, but even though I don't know some of the people here in real life, I still get concerned when I don't hear from them in a while. Do you tend to feel like that too?

That being said, @bdmillergallery I hope everything is well and you are enjoying some time off for the holidays. Same for you @bigtom13!
