Bitcoin and several other cryptos are far from anonymous. It amazes me that people would try to ransom and get paid in crypto. It would be too easy to track that back to someone. Now there are a number of cryptos that do provide anonymity. Smart hackers should be asking for rewards in that. But I'm with you... don't pay and they go away.
