Hello my fellow bloggers! Today I want to talk about HIVE “True Ownership” ownership feature. Does it really exists on HIVE? Do we need more? Let’s dive in and investigate.

Source When you open Peakd you see the main feature of HIVE that differes it from other social media platforms:

Decentralization together with a new concept of “cryptographic keys” allows users to have real true ownership. True ownership is something no other social media is willing to give users because they need you dependent on their site.

This is the most important thing on HIVE for me. We own our content and the platform can’t edit our posts. But is this really a “true” ownership? Anyone can copy-paste your post right after you release it and put it on HIVE under own name. Does he becomes a “true owner” by stealing other peoples’ work? I don’t think so.

We don’t care about this much until it happens with us. Yesterday I posted an article about some strange events in Ripple labs here on leofinance. Just an hour later, another user @lahori copy-pasted my article to his blog. He was so lazy to edit post he stole, that he even left my disclaimer I add at the end of my articles.

@lahori is a new user of our community. He has joined HIVE and LeoFinance just 8 days ago, by posting an introduction article. He received a warm welcome from our community – 42 upvotes and help in comments. In his first post he wondered

How to get success on Hive.Blog

Despite of the answers, he decided that the best way for him personally is to start steeling other peoples’ content. I find this really shameful. I’m not mad at him at all, but we should have some mechanisms in our community to discourage such actions. I believe the fight against plagiarism should be joined effort for the platform and community. Platform can develop tools to make copy-paste harder, for example, disable rewards for copy-paste posts. This will not solve the problem as anyone can edit the post a little to hide copy-paste, yet it would at least some efforts to steal your post. Community and moderators can use the down vote feature to fight plagiarism. I believe something like this is already available here, yet I’m also fairly a newbie and know of how it works here.

How do you feel about plagiarism on HIVE? Have you ever saw you post stolen? Let me know in the comments below!
