Blockchain is a disruptive technology that will play a fundamental role in our lives in the near future, blending in with various daily activities and serving as the foundation for the implementation and use of many new technologies. One of them is the topic of the moment, Artificial Intelligence.

The combination of these two technologies has everything to drive their adoption, offering incredible opportunities with different applications and a great impact on our way of life, including how we operate our digital assets. There's a lot of cool stuff coming and we've prepared this content to present some of them.

Lately, all we hear about are the AI tools of the moment, Chat GPT and Midjourney robots. They were received with great enthusiasm and also with a lot of distrust. Although charming, the technologies are so powerful that they can be a bit scary for some.

It was already expected that at some point we would have access to advanced robots like these, but perhaps we were not quite ready for their sudden arrival. In this article, we will explain what they are, what they do, and how AI and Blockchains can merge in the near future.

What is Artificial Intelligence?

Artificial Intelligence, or simply AI, is the simulation of human intelligence that can perform complex tasks, possibly including autonomous decision-making, based on a database or information previously provided. This is a very broad definition that can include everything from simple programs in a table to powerful software for identifying and processing information.

As our understanding of how the human brain works advances, along with the development of computer technology, we are able to envision a reality where it is almost impossible to distinguish artificial intelligence from human intelligence. For this to happen, AI needs to possess some specific qualities. Let's see some of them!

  1. **Reasoning: it's the ability to chain actions based on rules and basic data to solve problems. This process has been reproduced by scientists in machines, but eventually the possibilities become so many that the machine crashes. Humans solve complex problems using, for the most part, their intuition.
  2. Knowledge representation: This is the ability to deduce certain facts, completing its database, based on previously acquired information. Machines tend to make wrong deductions when too stressed, because they cannot identify sensitive differences between categories of data.
  3. Learning: Learning consists of the ability to create new laws and adapt to them in the perception of a certain reality. Computers are already capable of doing this, but as more laws are added, they become unable to process the data previously acquired with them in perspective.
  4. Social intelligence**: This is, ironically, one of the human abilities that machines imitate best. There are software capable of, based on a database of expressions and body language, discovering the emotional state of people.

The limitation of computers to reach the same level of human intelligence is mainly related to the fact that they cannot deal with the absence of an exact answer in high-stress situations as well as we can. Distinguishing between the two intelligences, however, is a major philosophical challenge.

The development of Artificial Intelligence

The development of forms of Artificial Intelligence was very important for the development of humanity, allowing for various processes to be automated and expanding the reach of computing and digital technologies. With it, we took a significant step towards passing on to machines the responsibility of doing manual or tedious work.

At the beginning, Artificial Intelligences were rudimentary and useful only for performing specific tasks. For this, they required good programming, constant monitoring and updates by human teams. But that has changed! Today they are capable of performing extremely complex tasks with very little human stimulation.

Midjourney

The imagination and creativity are major challenges for artificial intelligences. But recently this concept has been put to the test with the appearance of a robot capable of creating impressive images that could surprise even the best artists, Midjourney.

The tool was used to create various forms of visual art, including NFT collections. The result of the creations is impressive. It can be used for free, just needing a few references and basic commands for the robot to be able to create a huge variety of images.

The undeniable quality of the work delivered by the robot generated a lot of excitement. Some people find it incredible and interesting, while others think it's just another computer program. But the fact is that it was almost impossible not to hear about it in recent days.

Chat GPT

Images aren't the only area where Artificial Intelligence made history recently. A company called OpenAI trained an AI for the creation and manipulation of texts at a level never seen before. With the opening for free testing of the tool, the robot became the talk of the moment.

The larger and more complex the database that underlies an Artificial Intelligence's answers, the more complex, comprehensive and accurate its responses will be. And it seems that we have finally reached a technological level that allows the general public access to a truly relevant AI.

The tool not only comprehends extremely complex instructions, but also processes them with absurd speed and delivers back incredibly accurate and intelligent texts. It can be used to create music, poems, letters, and also to organize your supermarket shopping list.

Both technologies have in common the fact that they surpass much of what we have seen so far in creative Artificial Intelligence, capable of producing original quality content. Imagine then a technology as powerful as this associated with the web and blockchain universe.

Blockchain and AI

Of course, the creative dimension of Artificial Intelligence that is present in both tools has a lot to offer for cryptocurrency and NFT projects. This ranges from assistance in content creation, translation and cultural adaptation, automated responses, and much more.

But the integration between blockchain and AI is far from realizing its potential just with these options. The synergy between the two is huge and more and more possibilities for mutual development continue to emerge with the mixture of the two.

Distributed computing

One of the major bottlenecks of artificial intelligences is information processing. Tasks that are relatively simple for the human brain require a huge amount of data computing to be processed. And this ends up making AI less accessible and more expensive.

With the use of blockchain, it is possible to divide the computing tasks using secure means, such as the SMPC we talked about last week. Thus, an incentive is created for more people to collaborate for the functioning of an AI, which can be much more powerful and perform more complex tasks.

Information verification

With the dissemination of the use of AI in increasingly complex and important tasks in our lives, it will be necessary for the information provided by them to be verifiable and its veracity can be confirmed. And no technology is more effective in offering a solution for this than blockchain.

An AI can use the information contained in the blocks to assure its users of the accuracy of the information, thus ensuring that it is more difficult for malicious agents to manipulate the robot for harmful use.

Crypto asset analysis

We also have somewhat less grandiose and more practical ambitions. Who wouldn't want to rely on the analysis of a highly developed AI to perform a complete analysis of an asset, including public opinion, financial and movement data, contract review, and more?

We hope that AI tools will have a significant influence on portfolio management and risk control when investing in crypto assets in the coming years. There are countless applications already in use, but even more powerful and comprehensive offerings will be made available to the public soon.

Monitoring the network

Although blockchain is designed to offer full transparency and decentralization, analyzing the data and compiling all the information can be a very difficult task for someone who wants to monitor a network with a massive volume of transactions happening all the time.

Artificial Intelligence can track all transactions on the network and create new indexes that make monitoring the network easier for both investors and to ensure its security and proper functioning. There are already several centralized tools that do something similar, but with the use of AI we can create one that is completely decentralized.

The dark side of Artificial Intelligence

Of course, we must not ignore the possible negative effects of using artificial intelligence. One of them is the possibility of greater centralization, as extremely powerful entities may use such tools to gain greater control over those with less power.

It is still very difficult to say what the positive and negative implications of the exponential development of AI technology will be in the coming years. The most conservative estimate says that in the next 50 years we will have an Artificial Intelligence as powerful as the human, but with the difference of unrestricted access to almost all the knowledge accumulated by humanity.

It is worth noting the need to be aware of the terms of use of these services.

Although almost no one reads it, nor is it disclosed, artificial intelligences can collect your research data, link it to your user profile, and sell the data to any company or person who wants it. There is a privacy issue involved here and you need to keep an eye on the research you do.
