It seems Facebook has retreated from its crypto ad ban, after changing its name to Meta and is selling itself as a likely candidate to build the mythical Metaverse.

How a lot has changed in the space of a few short years. At the time Big Tech recognized what the blockchain was all about and instantly saw it as a threat to their survival, having benefitted immensely from the status quo.

But now there seems to be a paradigm shift. Big Tech is starting to embrace the blockchain, or at least they are trying to leverage on the technology in order to expand their influence. While the shift is still a mystery to me (I can't simply be satisfied with the excuse that these companies have now seen the light), it does appear that it has come to stay.

No doubt twitter will likely follow suite as far as the ban goes as there does seem to be a consensus agreement of sorts from the big media companies, not to mention the former CEO became sort of a blockchain poster boy.

The Lesson Here

What I pick from this is the fickleness of irrational behavior as well as the inevitability of a solid proof of value concept. Even beyond the blockchain, we often see narratives being passed around even in the face of strong evidence to the contrary. The lesson is not to buy into any narrative as long as the proper conviction for any action is considered.

When it comes to blockchain technology, its proof of value is beyond reasonable doubt. Therefore it will be foolhardy for anyone (not even governments) to try and pass us the narrative that what we are trying to build isn't right or will not work. That is simply rubbish knowing crypto provides a much better alternative to conventional banking, as well as bringing better transparency and opportunities to sectors previously underdeveloped by the traditional system, creating more opportunities for everyone.

Time is the big player here. Everything we try to either discredit or portray as a falsehood will be justified with time. For us in the space with the conviction that we know what we are taking about, the important thing here is to keep building irrespective of the distractions.

Conclusion

Hive keeps showing us that you cannot discredit a valuable project forever. Having provided real life value and given decentralized opportunities to many, it becomes unimaginable sometimes when I hear some of the more outlandish criticisms about this space. Sure it isn't perfect, but we are well on our way to doing something special in the media space.
