The monthly DCA into precious metals continues. I had the opportunity to grab this batch when APMEX offered 20%+ off on premiums. I have seen items that had 40% off on the website. Overall, I saved around $50 on premiums this time.

The regular bars were modest this time. It did feel pretty good to pay $20 less than usual for a gram of gold.

I have been eyeing this 4-oz piece with the Lord's Prayer engraved on it for a while. It was not available for purchase for a long time. When I noticed I could buy one, I rushed to put it in my cart.

I've always wondered about those authentication certificates. Do people take them seriously? Or, is it something for aesthetics? I do appreciate the nice box, though.

For those of you who are unfamiliar, this is from Matthew 6:9-13. It was the model in which Christ taught his disciples to pray. And it goes as follows in the King James Version of the New Testament:

9 ... Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. 10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. 11 Give us this day our daily bread. 12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. 13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

My grandparents used to say this before dinner every night back when I used to live with them. They were technically Protestant Christians, with a Chinese twist. Of course, they didn't say the Lord's Prayer in English.

Part of the appeal of this piece was the nostalgia. The Chinese translation of the Bible, as far as I know, is translated from German. I say that because the names are often transliterations of German pronunciation. From a practical standpoint, it would have been easier had I gotten four separate 1-oz bars. However, this is for sentimental value.

The endless journey of accumulation continues.
