In order for me to hold Tether, I have to find a way to store it, even for a short amount of time, in a place where I hold my own keys. That is a protocol on which I stand firm.

That is the smartest and the only way to protect your assets. Not your key, not your crypto.

It's interesting and also worrying how you have to go search different options, go through a lot of trouble just to store your USD. I'm bookmarking your post, may need it one day.
