Splinterlands Investment, How Will It Play Out?

Somehow, I have this irrational motion, call it a hope, that I believe that the actions of others are more rational than mine are. That others have done their homework for me too.

Like @fullcoverbetting did in his recent article Final Splinterlands investment! Did buy a bunch of Untamed packs.

I am not playing actively @splinterlands any longer. In fact, I sold many great cards. Yet, I don't shy away from an opportunity. With new tokens and dividends from them, with the usual craze associated with the ending of a series of packs, Untamed in this case, I can jump in without problems. And not check how deep the water is :)

OK, I'll repeat Peter's move and watch the outcome. I won't open any pack. Just sit and watch!

The premise:

I need 200,000 $DEC to buy 100 packs.

The intermezzo

Did you notice on a screenshot above that I need to open a possible airdrop? That shows that I really don't play the game.

Well, here is the outcome.

Lobstradamus

Two cards, $1.7. This is what I call a great start.

Now, back to the business at hand.

How to collect 200,000 $DEC from tokens that are already at my disposal?

I need around 550 $HIVE or more. It depends on whom you ask.

My sources will be:

  • Hive wallet with $HIVE and $HBD
  • Hive-Engine wallet with $SWAP.HIVE and $BEE
  • $SEED from TreeDefi site on BSC blockchain. Think of it like @CubFinance just way better.

After I gather enough funds, the question is - where to buy $DEC? Or go with $HIVE all the way and swallow a 5% fee on #splinterlands?

Here I'll do a magic trick. A double-take of sorts:

Magic, I tell you.

OK, let's go shopping.

1. swap 16.847 $HBD to $HIVE via BlockTrades

I will need $HIVE anyway and @blocktrades is the most straightforward way to do this swap.

2.  transfer liquid $HIVE from Hive wallet to Hive-Engine wallet via LeoDex

Remember, @leodex is cheaper with the fee being just 0.25%.

It's in order to explain why I am going with $SWAP.HIVE to $DEC first. Although $DEC price is rising I want to keep as much $SEED as possible because $SEED's price is raising even more.

3. swap $BEE to $SWAP.HIVE

$BEE is a paycheck for being a Hive-Engine witness. I use it to occasionaly buy other tokens, like now.

It's a lot of manual work, the exchange. After 18 transactions I sold 160 $BEE and got 117 $SWAP.HIVE, or there around.

Intermediate status: 213.43 $SWAP.HIVE. I need around 340 more.

4. time to start buying $DEC with $SWAP.HIVE

How many transactions will I need this time? Much less, hopefully.

Four transactions later I have 0 $SWAP.HIVE and 70895.402 $ DEC.

I need another 130,000 $DEC. These will come from ...

5. swap $SEED to $BUSD to $DEC

130,000 $DEC is around 127 $BUSD, @cubfinance says.

I need to harvest $SEED and swap it to $BUSD first.

After the harvest I swaped $SEED to 128 $BUSD. Just in case.

Buying $DEC ...

6. last step before the purchase of packs, move $DEC from BSC and Hive-Engine into the game

Nice, ain't it? The transaction fee for moving $DEC from BSC was 4 cents.

Buy the packs already!!!

I have 112 unopened packs now. Cool!

Resume

How much did I invest? Besides a good hour of time?

Let's aproximate the numbers:

  • 215 $HIVE x $0.372 = ~ $80
  • 128.77 $BUSD = ~ $130
  • total: $210

One pack = $1.875

Time will tell the real value of all this transactional gymnastics.

I do hope you have survived until the end of this long story. It was boring, I know.

Better and better
