Yesterday I bought the last 55 LEO I needed to reach my long-stated goal of 1,000 LEO power by the end of 2022. It's been a grind, as if you've been following my blog, you know where I was early this year when things went south for me financially needing to care for an ill relative.

I was over 1K LEO, and had to liquidate holdings I'd spent years building, but it was the right thing to do. Being a student, the responsible one in the family, and unable to find work, meant fewer opportunities to build my crypto stack as I used to.

Here, immigrants in management reserve jobs for "their" people meaning, Americans don't have much of an opportunity to even get hired in the first place. And if you do, you're the first person they'll fire in order to open up a job slot for someone else from their home country. They'll say it right to your face: "I have to look out for MY people!" So as a citizen, it's been really hard to find work, which is why so many people are leaving.

But I never gave up.

Little by little, bit by bit, I began the rebuilding process, determined to regain my former 1000 staked LEO numbers by the end of 2022 and I did it!

Last week I made this post, and got a little visit by @leogrowth who left a comment (after actually reading my article, thank you!), plugging a new initiative for long-term growth (I'm all about that) for LEO holders called #myleogoals for 2023.

So I decided I'm in.

Getting back to 1K LEO staked was huge for me. It's the first fruits of the restoration of my account levels, and a nice little shot in the arm. I've also been able to restore my DHEDGE holdings, and currently have just over 700 DHEDGE tokens, leaving me about where I was just one year ago. My year-end goal was 700 DHEDGE, and now I plan to double that in 2023. I don't remember if my old numbers were 700, or 1400 DHEDGE, so I added both to my year-end and 2023 goals.

That 5K LEO delegation I was awarded over the summer showed me the utility that having a bigger stake and giving out larger upvotes (and curation awards) can do for those of us who are long-term LEO HODLers.

So with 1K out of the way, it's time to aim higher.

Since I'm so busy, it's hard to create daily posts as I used to. However author rewards are so negligible and hit and miss, that I rarely consider them in my calculations and can't really rely on them. What worked for me on a much smaller scale has been delegations and 2nd-layer tokens to bring in income that I could use to buy LEO (and more 2nd-layer tokens, wash, rinse and repeat).

That and buying LEO when the odd bit of extra cash came in is how I was able to build to 1,000 LEO, and what I will continue doing in 2023.

I'm seriously considering picking up another 1K LEO before the year is out so that I'll have 2000 LEO to start 2023 with.

But that's not my goal for the new year.

#myleogoals for 2023 are to build-buy-stake 5000 LEO to match the 5K delegation I won from @anomadsoul (thanks bro!) for #lpud. Since my token income from publishing is negligible and all over the place, I can't nail down a monthly number to go by, and being a student and sometimes working, means I'll post and engage whenever I can.

So my monthly goals will be to build a wall of LEO tokens from whatever I can, wherever I can.

So putting my tokens (and curation) to work for me will be the optimal way to reach my goal of 5,000 staked LEO power by the end of 2023.

I've been taking the little HBD earned on posts, buying HIVE with it, then powering up some and buying LEO and other 2nd-layer income tokens with the proceeds. That practice will continue along with targeted LEO buys to help me reach (and hopefully exceed) that number.

After finally reaching my goal of 1,000 LEO staked, it feels great to be back! But this is only the start, and now is a great time to buy LEO. I'm hoping that before 2022 is out, I'll be able to add another 1,000 LEO to my stash, and build to 2K to reach a proper CUB status to begin the new year with. So what are you waiting for?
