Do People Actually Hate Their Jobs?
I have stumbled upon many articles both via Google and here regarding the employees that are hating their jobs and that they want to actually switch completely their careers. To tell you the truth i highly doubt that is the case and i strongly believe that there are other reasons that people are in search of another working environment.
There are some cases in that people switch careers completely for example most people that have a bachelor's in math can't land a job as a mathematician. These people are either looking for data science-related jobs or as software developers/testers. Let's get back to our main topic though, below you will find some reasons that lead people to find another job, according to my opinion of course.
Low Salary
I strongly believe that many many people are getting paid very low compared to what they deserve or according to what they actually offer and do every day. In fact, many are getting paid the minimum wage or even less while literally, everything from electricity, food, gas, and inflation is getting higher. At this point, these people can't actually live so there is no other choice but to search for something better.
People, especially nowadays aren't that stupid regarding their financial expectations. Google is their friend and they can even find out how much a company pays its employees. If they realize or feel that they are underpaid compared to the market or other co-workers they will no doubt leave.
Boss and Colleagues
Many people have complaints about their Bosses and Colleagues. I haven't heard about colleagues many times, maybe here and there that there are 1-2 people that are annoying or very competitive but oh boy have i heard about bosses.
The main issues that people have with their bosses are that they don't actually understand the work from their perspective, they always push for more work and working hours and they most of the time take all the credit and rewards for themselves. At the same time, they have this bossy attitude towards others and people are feeling like they can never be heard, they actually fear to even talk.
Commute
That's a big issue that remote work solves as i have mentioned too many times already. Many people need to spend in total around 1-3 hours commuting back and forth. Not only it's very tiring and they lose hours of their lives for no reason but nowadays with the gas prices the costs have gone up x1.5-x3.
They are Stuck
Another reason that people hate working for a company, is the feeling that they are getting stuck. Especially, the younger generations have an urge to become better, faster with more responsibilities and secure better positions in a company.
If they have not a clear path since their beginning at the company and through 1-2 years working there they realize that they can't advance career-wise they will simply search for other opportunities that they can. I have literally heard and known that in some companies that have over 10k employees in order to advance to some Manager positions you simply need the Manager to retire or quit.
No Work/Life Balance
Last but not least, people hate their working environment when there is no life balance. That means that they spend more hours in the office or in front of a laptop than enjoying their lives. Especially if you tie this with, low pay, commuting and bad bosses literally it's a living hell for the employees and the younger generation won't accept that they will search for something better out there and trust me they will find it.
All in all, there are various factors that make people "hate" their jobs. It's not actually that they hate the field of work, they simply hate some added factors like the above-mentioned. People don't actually hate their jobs, they hate their working environment. Employers, especially in these troubled times need to make their employees feel more comfortable and in return, the employees will give it all, and stay longer and with their help, the company will get better and better.
