Yesterday, I set some non-goals for myself for next year. Among them, the one I believe I'll have the most trouble staying consistent with is the one to walk more. I used to be much more consistent with this and I love walking. I'm just out of practice and often find the excuse that I'm out of time.

I thought I should have a head start with the health-oriented ones, and particularly walking more is what I need to make sure I don't neglect because I already eat quite carefully.

I'm not great at this type of post, and not particularly enjoy writing them either, but I guess it's a way of keeping me accountable. Although I don't promise I'll post them every time I go for a walk. They can be pretty boring (mine at least), as I soon discovered when I was doing my actifit reports.

Today I decided to take a walk to the home improvement store located on the opposite side of the town, although I have a different one very close to my place.

Normally, that's a place where is best to go by car, especially if you have something to buy. But I'm mostly going to check things out, not buy. Although you never know.

That could also be done online, but what's the fun in that, especially when your goal is to move your body more?

I checked it on google maps. It says the shortest distance (the route I'll take) is 3.3km. Double that for the way back, that's 6.6km. Plus the steps inside the store, that's an easy 7km. I won't count steps, but that's 15k+ for sure, if not more.

Of course, I'll be beaten when I get back, so I expect I'll take a considerable time to recover... doing nothing or napping. That's why the post came before. Just in case I won't have enough energy to do it after the fact.

That's the main holdback for me on doing long walks. They block a big part of my day when I am inactive for anything else.

Wish me luck! The start is always difficult, and I didn't take it gradually either. Which should have been better. But when I go out I generally walk, so I am used to walking. But I haven't walked in a while longer distances and I don't walk very often these days.
