Which Defi Dashboard supports more protocols and chains? Debank or DefiYield?

TLDR: I compared both and found out DeBank supports more protocols than DefiYield but doesn't support Terra apparently. (By the way, neither are compatible with Hive.)

Tracking investments in the Defi world can be nuts. Someone told me that at last count they held more than a 100 different kinds of assets in different chains in their portfolio. There are serial investors that have seen a lot of growth by getting in the early phases of multiple projects on different chains, and websites like DeBank and DefiYield offer dashboards that can help keep track of all that. These kinds of Dashboards also make it easier for people who are starting to explore the different options out there for the first time to stay organized. They can also be used to track what other people, for example whales, are holding.

So to compare the two portfolio dashboards, I picked several people's wallets at random and compared the performance. (All the addresses and net values are blurred for privacy reasons but normally in these apps you can easily see the totals in each protocol and chain.)

First I tried a Metamask wallet.

METAMASK WALLET 1

DeBank Dashboard

DeBank in this case found all the funds in the wallet, including Binance Smart Chain, Polygon, and Celo blockchains, and importantly the Liquidity Pool tokens that had been staked on Firebird Finance. It found some Alpaca funds that had been forgotten on an archived inactive lending vault so that was good. When I compared with blockchain explorers, I found that DeBank in this case was even better than the BSC explorer, which did not track the funds locked in the old Alpaca vault for some reason. But DeBank did miss the Celo Dollars (cUSD) that were on the Polygon chain.

DefiYield Dashboard

The DefiYield dashboard on the other hand did not find the funds in Firebird Finance, or in Alpaca. It didn't find the Cello Dollars (cUSD) on Polygon either.

METAMASK WALLET 2

DeBank Dashboard

DeBank found more funds than DefiYield again. They both found funds on Cronos, Arbitrum, BSC and Ethereum. DeBank found the funds in Kagla Finance on the Astar chain, that DefiYield doesn't find. Neither of them found any of the funds on the Conflux chain, neither the tokens and coins held in the wallet nor the tokens staked on Swappi.

DefiYield Dashboard

Taking a closer look at the Cronos chain, I noticed that neither of them found what the wallet had staked in the Darkness D4USD stablecoin Liquidity Pool.

TERRA WALLET Now that Terra crashed and the new Terra chain launched, DefiYield still needs to update it to be compatible with the new Terra I think, so all the comments below are for the Terra Classic chain only. I suppose DefiYield will update to be compatible with Terra 2 soon though. As it is, DefiYield does work for Terra addresses, although you need to switch from the Metamask address to the Terra one. DeBank on the other hand does not work at all for Terra addresses.

DefiYield Dashboard

The DefiYield Dashboard didn't find the Deviant Factions NFTs in that wallet, or the Secret coins. They aren't shown here in the image but DefiYield did find the Mine Pylon tokens, and many other Terra tokens like TerraWorld, PSI and MIR, etc.

WALLET 3

Debank Dashboard

For this Wallet, DeBank again finds more chains and protocols than DefiYield does. DefiYield picked up on almost all the tokens that DeBank did (except the Mars4 tokens on Ethereum and the XP PolkaFantasy tokens on Polygon), but it missed a lot of the protocols. It only found the liquidity pools and tokens staked in DefiKingdoms, and only from the protocol on the Harmony chain, since it missed the DefiKingdoms chain on Avalanche altogether. Whereas DeBank also found the staked liquidity pool tokens from Tranquil Finance, Defira on Harmony; Mimas, DarkCrypto and Darkness Finance on Cronos; RomeDAO on the Moonriver chain, and the assets on the DefiKingdoms chain.

By the way, the total net worth that shows up for the account on either of the two platforms does not included the worth of the NFTs. DeBank finds more NFTs than DefiYield does, although DefiYield did detect the Mars4 lands which DeBank did not. Also, the value DeBank counts for NFTs is the value in USD equivalent that was paid at the moment of purchasing them. I'm not sure that's the best way to estimate current value but it's better than nothing.

DeBank NFT Portfolio

DefiYield counts the NFTs value as the price paid in the token at the time (for example ETH), but multiplied by the current value of ETH. So in this case for example, if the worth of ETH goes down, DeBank still counts the NFT's worth at the same value as when bought, but DefiYield counts them as per the current price of ETH, so it's lower. Although the Mars4 Lands show up on the DefiYield dashboard, no value is assigned to them for some reason.

DefiYield NFT Portfolio

Neither dashboard shows any of the NFTs held on Immutable X (Gods Unchained), the Wizardia NFTs on Binance Smart Chain, or the PolkaFantasy Land that is currently staked. Talking about NFTs, neither of these dashboards are compatible with the Hive (SplinterLands) or Ronin (Axie) chains either.

And the winner is......

For Metamask wallets, I think it's pretty clear DeBank is clearly much better for tracking assets in a multichain portfolio. DefiYield on the other hand is compatible with Terra as well as with Metamask so for Terra users DefiYield is better. DeBank and DefiYield offer other useful features and tools by the way, and the DefiYield announcements channel on Telegram can be useful to find new ways to get high yields and for other Defi information. But here I only was looking at the dashboards.

I'm sorry neither are compatible with Hive but, the good news is there is a new proposal from the Peakmonsters team and they want to make tools to make tracking assets on Hive Engine and Splinterlands easier.

I'll just end by saying that keeping track of assets on multiple chains can be very complicated and honestly, neither of these dashboards are as complete as I would like, since neither of them were able to track all the assets I tested them for. To finish on a more positive note though, I am pretty sure that as time goes by their will be better and better services for this.

I hope this was useful for you and please let me know in the comments how you keep track of your assets.
