Women and cryptocurrencies - Mujeres y criptomonedas

For some reason not entirely specified, the blockchain cryptocurrency market has a decided majority participation of men, this data is endorsed to a greater or lesser extent by all traders and financial consultants in the world.

The biggest assumption is given in the generalized belief that women are more conservative than men and cryptocurrencies still do not have the necessary confidence, this assertion of financial caution is verified in many cases, although there are also other types, for example, We all joke about credit card spending at our wives' clothing or shoe stores.

Whatever the reason why there are fewer women than men moving their finances between BTC, ETH, and the whole tangle of tokens, the truth is that during the year of the Covid-19 pandemic that we carry, the indexes have varied notably, the digital magazine Business Insider, specialized in financial and business news, recently mentioned a measurement that marks the growth in the number of women entering the cryptocurrency market.

Although it starts from a very low floor, in my country the participation of women in this ecosystem has grown exponentially in the last year, accompanying the trend observed in both Europe and the United States. Argentina leads this segment in Latin America, although it is known that it is not a country strongly linked to the blockchain economy in particular.

The newspaper Infobae has published a study where it indicates that Argentina leads the ranking with the highest growth in the participation of women in the cryptocurrency market in 2020, the mentioned increase is 98% compared to the previous year, Colombia with 82 % and Venezuela with 80% complete the podium. Both in Europe and in the USA, the number of users of cryptocurrency platforms has grown by nearly 50% in the same period.

The investment platforms Robinhood and Etoro have seen a substantial increase in women among their users and investors, although they also confirm that the ratio of the number of men who invest in cryptocurrencies continues to be significantly higher. Etoro has reported that only 15% of its users are women, but they indicate that in 2019 that participation was 10%.

Partly because of the great interest that is being shown in cryptocurrencies and partly because of the search for economic independence, many women have begun to internalize and invest in the crypto market and we all know that when they take something new we can hardly overcome them.

Time will tell how far they will go.

La mayor suposición está dada en la creencia generalizada sobre que las mujeres son más conservadoras que los hombres y las criptodivisas aun no tienen la confianza necesaria, esa aseveración de cautela financiera se comprueba en muchos casos, aunque también las hay del otro tipo, por ejemplo, todos bromeamos alguna vez con los gastos con tarjetas de crédito en las tiendas de ropa o zapatos que realizan nuestras esposas.

Sea cual fuere el motivo por el cual hay menos mujeres que hombres moviendo sus finanzas entre los BTC, los ETH y toda la maraña de tokens, lo cierto es que durante el año de pandemia de Covid-19 que llevamos los índices han variado notablemente, la revista digital Business Insider, especializada en noticias financieras y empresariales, ha mencionado recientemente una medición que marca el crecimiento en la cantidad de mujeres que ingresan al mercado de criptodivisas.

Si bien se arranca desde un piso muy bajo, en mi país la participación de la mujer en este ecosistema ha crecido en el último año en forma exponencial, acompañando la tendencia que se observa tanto en Europa como en Estados Unidos. Argentina lidera este segmento en Latinoamérica, aunque es conocido que no es un país fuertemente ligado a la economía blockchain en particular.

El diario Infobae ha publicado un estudio donde indica que Argentina lidera el ranking de mayor crecimiento en la participación de la mujer en el mercado de las criptodivisas en el año 2020, el incremento mencionado es del 98% respecto al año anterior, Colombia con un 82% y Venezuela con un 80% completan el podio. Tanto en Europa como en USA la cantidad de usuarias de las plataformas de criptodivisas ha crecido en el mismo período cerca del 50%.

Las plataformas de inversión Robinhood y Etoro han apreciado un incremento sustancial de mujeres entre sus usuarios e inversionistas, aunque también ellos confirman que la relación de cantidad de hombres que invierten en criptomonedas continúa siendo elevadamente superior. Etoro ha informado que solo el 15% de sus usuarios son mujeres, pero indican que en 2019 esa participación era del 10%.

En parte por el gran interés que se está demostrando en las criptomonedas y en parte por la búsqueda de la independencia económica, muchas mujeres han comenzado a interiorizarse y a invertir en el mercado cripto y todos sabemos que cuando ellas toman algo nuevo difícilmente podamos superarlas.
