A new NFT use case: to redeem them for services, as "Freelance NFTs".

Dear fellow Hivers, dear Leofinancers,

At a time when hyperinflation and the fiat currencies Ponzi scheme instability are skyrocketing in numerous countries, it’s more important than ever to exchange goods ands services through the use of HIVE or HBD, without having to « cash out » and resort to one of the traditional financial system fiat off-ramps.

At a time, too, where NFTs are unleashing DeFi platforms and Play-to-Earn game devs’ creativities, but are still often seen by « no coiners » as a fishy technology, it’s more crucial than ever to craft and promote NFT innovative and self-empowering new use cases.

That’s why I’ve decided to mint a first couple of « Freelance NFTs », directed to any Hiver or Hive holder who’d like to learn an idiom, in this first case : French.

« Learning French through NFTs ? Ça va pas la tête ? »**

The 3 NFTs I’ve recently minted will allow their owner (or owners) to receive 4 hours of personalized French language online classes per week, for... as long as they own it in their wallet. The skill and knowledge I’m offering shouldn’t be a problem – I’ve dedicated the last 15 years to teach French, mainly through several « Alliances Francaises », and the last 2 years were essentially focused on online teaching.

Let’s now break down the NFT side of things.

Why is it advantageous?

  • First because the current price of language classes, for instance to study French, is much higher than the one of purchasing ONCE a Freelance NFT. I’ve priced that Freelance NFT at USD 800 (1k Hive at the moment of publishing this article), an amount that is the equivalent of 3 months of collective sessions in many idioms teaching institutes in the United States – but in this case, we’re speaking of private lessons, which use to cost three times more than the collective ones.

And that comparative price advantage increases with time passing by. If my student(s) use my teaching services for a whole year – always on the basis of this sole NFT – the unitary tariff per tuition hour will result being much much less than what he or she would have paid without that process’ NFTsation.

  • Secondly, because upon having reached his learning goals, or if real life changes take place and modify his time availability, any student will be able to sell his Freelance NFT. Even if he doesn’t make a huge profit on that secondary market sale, he’ll or she’ll at least receive a partial payback of his original purchase, something impossible in traditional educative contexts, where the most that’s resellable are our old textbooks.

You can find the first 3 of those Freelance NFTs here : https://neftyblocks.com/c/freelancenft/assets/1099745000247 (I originally wanted to create them on the Hive blockchain, but the fact they belong to a category outside of the art and the gaming universes prevented me to do so).

I’d like to conclude by thanking @rakhmen, @newenx, @drabs587 and @atomcollector, of whom the conversations about learning Spanish inside the Hive ecosystem have partly fueled this Freelance NFTs concept ;-)
