Getting a call from an unknown number, and then a voicemail, always has me wondering who the hell is leaving me a voicemail?

I don't answer numbers I don't recognize. If it's important enough, they can leave me a message.

So when I saw the notification that I indeed had a VM from an unknown number, I thought "who the hell could this be?" Probably a spam caller, had a few of those in the past few months.

But NO. IT WAS MY TAX MAN.

The guy I had sat down with last month to do my taxes. Usually that would be a bad thing, lol. But not in this case.

I've been going to him for the past 3 years and he has done a phenomenal job for me, getting me back as much money as possible.

Of course we have had some conversations about crypto in the past, but this guy is probably in his 50's and only knows the legacy systems he has grown up with.

Well wouldn't you know it, his VM went something like this:

Hey Austin, it's 'Guy' your tax guy, got a question for you and it's going to seem weird but that's ok. If I wanted to invest in an up and coming cryptocurrency, you'd be my guy to ask, so I'm going to ask you. What's a new cryptocurrency you feel is up and coming and going to do well in the next year?"...

Yeah. That's my 50 something year old tax guy, asking for my opinion on crypto.

F'ing sweet!

After about a half hour phone call, he had a coinbase account and a day later had purchased his first few hundred dollars of BTC. How cool is that?!

So what does my tax guy and my FIL have in common?

Well back in 2016, me and my wife got married. I am a pretty simple guy and can get by without all the fancy stuff the media tries to push on us....

But my wife, she does like all the fancy stuff. So our wedding was pretty extravagant.

Extravagant to the tune of almost 30K. Around 250 people, a huge venue, delicious food, an array of desserts, open bar, then add in the invitations, accommodations, attire like my suit and her dress, bridal and groom gifts....man that shit adds up fast.

You think I could afford a wedding like that??? Not a chance.

Her folks pitched in a lot, my mom pitched in a little, my old man paid for the grooms dinner, and we paid the rest on loan with her folks to be paid back whenever we could, interest free.

Not a bad deal for us....but I'm still paying this damn wedding off, lol.

But I had an idea the other day, and thought "what the hell, let's see if Don will go for this."

So I called up my father-in-law and said this:

Hey Don, I have an idea. The money I'm paying you monthly I know isn't being used for anything, really. (They are savers, and they don't need this money for bills or anything, but a loan is a loan and I'm more than happy to pay it back) So what do you think about this...instead of me Venmo'ing you the money each month, why don't I buy BTC with it? Then when I've paid it all back, we look at the balance sheet and if there is a surplus because BTC has gone up, you get your $ back and we split the profits. Or, worst case scenario, BTC has gone down, and I pay you a lump sum of the difference.....he said he would have to think about it.

I wasn't going to hold my breath. This was a pie in the sky idea that I just threw out there on a whim. Not to mention his oldest son just passed his series 7 and him and I have had some, I don't want to say heated, but adversary exchanges about the stock market vs. the crypto market.

But my wife went to her brothers house the other day and her folks were there. She straight up asked him at the dinner table..."so dad, what do you think about Austin's proposal?"...

I got this text not long after:

"Let's do it. Should be interesting. Keep me posted on status occasionally."

Holy crap, he said yes!

Needless to say, that day, I made a separate CB account on my wife's phone for this exact purpose and bought the first of many to come payments in BTC, to pay back my in-laws.

In a span of a week, my tax man and my father in law are now owners of their first BTC. One is in his 50's, the other in his late 60's. The tides are really starting to turn now and with BTC now steadily hanging around 50K, I don't see any reason why this thing won't continue to pop off and blow our expectations out of the water.

Cheers to the Bull run of 2021. Thanks for reading and let me know if you've had any luck getting any Boomers to see the light that is BTC.
