About a month ago I wrote about PolyLion, a farm on Polygon that has a very interesting feature called mountain farming. By staking LION tokens you can farm other currencies. So far we had USDC and WETH but now Matic will be on the menu.

This time they reached out to the community on Telegram and offered a few farms to vote on. Based on the current results, Matic seems to be the winner.

The past two farms have been absolutely amazing. I do not farm Lion when there is no mountain farming but I do participate in every event because both times I got over 100% returns. I see no reason why it would be different this time.

Where is the money coming from?

PolyLion had a bombastic start and a lot of funds got locked on the farm when it launched. Every farm had a 4% deposit fee that is kept for Lion holders and distributed via Mountain farming. The price of the token kept going down and interest hit an all-time low but Mountain farms keep coming and there are A LOT of funds to be distributed.

Best Farming Strategy

I will personally deposit all allocated funds directly to the mountain farm as soon as it launches. The Lion token has a 5% reflection tax so moving it around isn't a very good idea. If you do consider joining there are a few things you should know:

  • You will pay a tax when buying the token and when staking it in the pool.

  • Mountain farms usually come with a timelock so timing your harvests is very important. If there is a 15-day timelock pay close attention to when the farm will end if you want to withdraw your tokens as soon as it does. Once you click on the "harvest" button you won't be able to perform any more actions for another 15 days.

  • The price usually goes up before the farm starts and then depreciates over time. Right now it seems very close to the all-time low so I see it as a good buying opportunity.

  • Communication from the devs is slow so expect delays. They have delivered on every promise so far but you can never be 100% sure with these things.

Risks Included

Risks seem to be very obvious. There is no guarantee that the APY will be as high as the first two. The token also has very low liquidity (below 50k) to this is more a gamble than an actual investment.

Making your personal entry and exit strategy is a must. For more detailed information about the farm be sure to read my previous article about PolyLion.
