Vulnerabilities of centralized systems have been popping up again last week only further proving the arguments against them. It wasn't a huge week but still a memorable one nevertheless.

GU Discord Hackathon

The Discord server of Gods Unchained got hacked twice last week. The first time was about 5 days ago when users were tricked into clicking on phishing links behind a fake Gods Unchained NFT sale.

Some mortals got rekt but those that weren't had a second chance just a few days later.

All victims should be reimbursed by the GU team.

Solana Goes Down Again

Solana suffers yet another reported DDoS attack

SOL just has a hard time staying online. A blockchain that was restarted last year is also seemingly vulnerable to DDoS attacks.

Another year.. and another episode of Solana going down.

Today it went down for a few hours in the early morning Asia time, and it took almost 4 hours to bring it back up.

The Solana community blames it on a DDOS attack.

Another OpenSea Airdrop

Eligible OpenSea users can claim the airdrop on the homepage and earn staking rewards or sell it on Uniswap.

The team behind the project is anonymous and the overall feel is a bit sketchy. Proceed with caution and DYOR.

BitBoy Gets The Spotlight

A well-deserved spotlight is shining on BitBoy these days. Twitter and Reddit threads are competing to highlight his biggest scams but there seems to be too many to keep up.

If you want to scratch the surface, this thread covers the most interesting ones for sure.

Binance Investigated by Pakistan

Pakistan to investigate Binance for multi-million dollar crypto scam

Based on the complaints raised by citizens, the Pakistani agency identified at least 11 fraudulent mobile apps that suddenly stopped working after successfully stealing the user’s funds. The apps identified by FIA are MCX, HFC, HTFOX, FXCOPY, OKIMINI, BB001, AVG86C, BX66, UG, TASKTOK and 91fp.

In addition to directing users to sign up on Binance to transfer the funds, the fraudsters added the victims on a Telegram group for providing “expert betting signals.” Each application hosted around 5,000 customers on average. The notice added:

“At least 26 suspect blockchain wallet addresses (Binance wallet address) have been identified where fraudulent amount may have been transferred. A letter has been written to Binance Holdings Limited to give the details of these blockchain wallet accounts as well as to debit block them.”

It remains to be seen how Binance was involved in this situation. It seems that their API was somehow exploited and the government officials seem to be keen on imposing a financial fine on the exchange.
