With all that is happening around us, recession and inflation accompanied with every uninspiring happening we are dealing with, it is easy to be in a state of oblivion on the transformation before us as we absorb ourselves in world problems.

While lack of internet transformation awareness is mostly related to the ones still stuck in Web 2.0, the likes of us on Hive and other cryptocurrency communities are ahead of the masses to take to be better positioned for the opportunities Web 3.0 offers.

For the older internet, some of us are aware of how centralized and the monetization of user data has been by the social media giants like Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, etc.

Therefore a change is long overdue, a change for rewarding social media users through tokenization instead of being the product. Users have control over their accounts as opposed to account closure whenever big brother is in a bad mood.

At present Hive is home to Decentralized Applications (DApps) fitting for Web 3.0, 3Speak a video platform similar to YouTube. Whatever video is published on 3Speak can't be taken down, unlike YouTube.
We can look at Hive as a Web 3.0 version of Facebook's Web 2.0 but on a deeper look Hive is a lot bigger as it is capable of housing DApps of various kinds as well as taking the form of investments and even a bank.

Gone are the days when gaming was played for the fun of it with no rewards, today with blockchain technology games like Splinterlands are rewarding players through tokenization.

LeoThreads is a Twitter-like DApp on Leofinance, yet a finished DApp but the incentive to use is already there even at its development stages.

A look outside Hive, is Presearch, a Google-like search engine that rewards users PRE tokens for searching.

Brave is another with BAT rewards for utilizing it as a preferred browser even though I see no reason why it has to go through centralized Uphold to distribute BAT tokens, it still exhibits the idea of transition to Web 3.

The transition is happening before us in multiple ways, most unknown to us but the thought of Web 3 spreading out and evolving presents opportunities for anyone to tap in. For some privacy is less of a concern, which is why most spend the most time on the likes of Facebook but the incentivization Web 3 offers is going to end up being the winner.
