The multiple wives thing makes sense for a huge succesful farm with many projects

This is actually very true, in the past in the Elizabethen era in Nigeria you have people who had close to 20 children and multiple wives. The main reasons they did this was to actually have more labour for their farm. It's not really a "thing" nowadays.
