Red tapism is excessive to protocol, standards and rules without considering the option to adopt change even in niggling or necessary circumstances on the other hands, ethics are conducts that governs or guides the behavior of a person or persons or a group of individuals and even organizations. This is often mistaken for each other.

In other words, red tapism is the excessive enactment of policies even when sentiments or a sense of reason can bring change that could be considered proper. red tapism is the worst form of bureaucracy and sometimes people in government agencies consider it to be patriotic, being ethical or following laid down rules and procedures. There's a particular phenomenon that I have come to notice and this is the fact that lawless countries have the highest tendencies to showcase red tapism more than countries that have a stable working system.

In Terms Of Development

Nigeria for example is one of the most lawless places in the world, but then there's a sort of excessive bureaucracy in her system because of the tendencies for people in power to actually abuse their power. For example, people in the highest ranking positions of authority in the country are deemed to be above the rule of law and not questionable to actions and decisions made by them.

Nevertheless they enforce bureaucratic tendencies to people below them in their respective agencies, it means these people cannot act on their intuition for the betterment of the nation or others in general, their act of heroism or trying to tweak the rules to forestall innovativeness is often seen as being unethical thereby making them prone to sack, jail term or treated unjustly.

This is to say that when people in different agencies try to beat red tapes set at different junctures they are often liable to face the wrath of lawless overloads in form of bosses, CEOs or even Managers at the top and this is why the sense of red tapism is often instilled on people using the sense of fear, death, poverty, deprivation or discrimination.

Red Tapism Isn't Ethics

Ethics aren't laws but red tapism are actions often caused or warranted by inconsiderable laws or the fear of consequences that comes with red tape rules and regulations but then, they're not rigid but flexible principle that are legible to change; one thing is, ignorance isn't lack of knowledge, and why is this? A lot of people knows that red tapism isn't really revolutionary, it is static and anti-developmental.

But, due to the fact that there are laws that would generally punish the people below and ignore the people above is the major reasons why people are practicing red tapism without a sense of conscience or empathy or trying to change the fact it has led to death, unemployment, nepotism or even tribalism. So this is why majorly people see red tapism as them being overly ethical.

The Financial Downside...

Most organizations and sectors in Nigeria are overly bureaucratic and this is why they do not grow, a typical example is the educational institutions in Nigeria. They rake in trillions of money in naira on a yearly basis, but has been practicing nearly the same system with little or no change to educational policies for more than 40-years. Flexibility is one of the things that renders red tapism rather ineffective, but then these sectors are slow in making decisions, that adopts a federal system that finds it difficult to enact laws based on changing trends.

Another atypical and red tapic tendency is banning of crypto in Nigeria because of the lack of knowledge of what crypto originally is. Due to the fact that the Nigeria government do not see crypto as a real or trustable money, they believe it is dangerous to the economy and hence it's susceptible to be banned without any research into it.

In conclusion

It is important to note that red tapism has its values, but the world is changing and the susceptibility to change is overly increasing on a daily basis but then, the excuse that it (red tapism) can be ethical is totally wrong, it's totally verbose and unthinkable. In other words, individuals and organizations no matter their ranking should be given the opportunity to freedom of innovativeness without the fear of reprisal. Red tapism slows down growth and development and the government alone (especially in African countries) are made up of older people whose policies are too slow to change their diverse societies.
