When i first discovered the #leofinance community, i felt somewhat bulldozed. The community was filled with gists that i couldn't comprehend at that time. So i left and concentrated more on other communities on the blockchain which i felt was easy to understand.

Navigating around the leofinance community is usually not easy especially for newbies who know nothing about the crypto world. I am talking about the crypto world because if you are a newbie, that's what the community seems to be. You think it is just centered around Bitcoin.

It took me a while to really understand the community. However I followed up daily to read other people's posts and finally understood that the community focused on money related contents. I remember having a discussion with my friend @omosefe about how the community works. We are not tech devs in anyway but somehow we told ourselves that we would pull through the community and that was how it started for me.

What I did

  • I had to find my niche. Now this is very important when trying to settle in a community. Jumping from one topic to another which you know nothing about is not useful at all. You have to find something that interests you and stick to it. You need to understand that thing properly. This is the mistake that a lot of people make daily. For instance, you discover that people who write about the crypto world get curated and then because of that, you jump into it. Forgetting that those people have indepth knowledge about the crypto space. At the end of the day, you may just find yourself plagiarizing or putting out posts that holds no water.

  • Engaging with other content creators. I don't think there is any platform even the web2 platforms that thrives well without engagement from the users. Let's see it this way, how do you want to get noticed without engaging? How will they find you, if they don't know you? How will they know you, if you don't show up? By engagement, I mean leaving quality remarks on their contents and following them too.

  • Participate in the community's activities. Every now and then, I see contests initiated by the community. The most recent is the one initiated by #leogrowth. There are some also initiated by #hodl and #leoglossary too. Check them out, understand the contest rules and questions and participate. Who knows, you may even end up getting that recognition that you have been wanting to get.

  • Post quality contents. The power of a quality content cannot be overemphasized. I love it when I visit your page and read your content and grab one or two things from those contents. It gives me joy because I will always come back for more. A quality content is educative. It is a content that keeps one glued from beginning to end and even want more. Before you put out a content out there, I recommend that you do a proper research on the topic you want to talk about. Have a background knowledge First and do not just rush to post. Take your time and write it out well. If you see a content that was written without rush, you will know. So instead of posting 3 contents with low quality, I advice you post one quality content.

  • Never plagiarize! Never plagiarize! Never plagiarize. This is self explanatory and very easy to understand too. Never ever lift a word from someone's work without giving them proper credit. If there is something I love about this blockchain, it is the fact that they encourage originality. I mean, it doesn't make sense when someone suffers to write a content and then another person just steals it. That is not just fair. So don't plagiarize and always be original at all times.

  • Put out an attractive post. There are people who don't know how to make their posts look attractive. They just post without even spacing their words. They don't even know where to use the paragraph or even where to add full stops. You need to make your posts look so attractive. Learn some markdowns and use them to make your posts attractive. It attracts people to read your posts and also proofread your work too. It is usually tiring reading posts with lots of grammatical errors. Those kind of posts are not even easy to understand.

  • Source your images properly. There are few sites that are acceptable to get free images from such as pixabay, unsplash etc. I use canva app most of the time to edit my pictures. And when you use any app, please indicate it there for everyone to see too.

Finally

Every community that stands the test of time has rules and when the users obey those rules, it makes the community organized and look very neat. As a newbie, if you can understand the community and follow the rules, you will enjoy it here. There is so much to learn on this leofinance frontend. All you need to do is just give it time and observe. If you are thinking of when to start, the time is now. Start now and gradually you will blend in.

Do you have some more guidelines to add? I will love to read them in the comment section
