How to apply for Medium Partnership Program (Eligibility Criteria & Creation of Stripe Account)

I did not think I would achieve this goal before the end of 2022, but apparently, I did.

I reached 100 followers on medium, and this is a prerequisite for an author to join their partner program.

In short, to sign up on their partnership programm you should have at least 100 followers, you should be an active author and you can only accept stripe payments.

So I decided to set up a Stripe Account. You should know that you will be required to provide some personal information and you should check if your country is eligible for creating an account.

Creating an Account with Stripe

Visit https://dashboard.stripe.com/register and fill in your email/name/country - choose a password.

Verify email address

Activate Payment Account

You will need to activate your account or you will not be able to receive payments or create a payment link

Fill in the requested information

Then you are asked to write your real name, address, telephone number etc.

Proceeding, you will need to write down your 'business details'

Move over to Medium and Visit the "Apply to the Partner Programm"

Making sure we have all the necessary information

There are two ways to earn.

(1) Member reading time.

The more time Medium members spend reading your content, the more money you earn.

(2) Referred memberships.

In addition to the content you publish, you can refer readers to become Medium members and get half of their membership fee, net of standard payment processor fees, for as long as they remain a member.

Eligibility Criteria

Publish a story (at least) - Gain 100+ followers - Write at least once every 6 months

Final Step - Applying...

Here are the eligibility requirements, please be sure you meet them before applying:

Have at least 100 followers
Have published at least one story (not including responses) on Medium
Be at least 18 years old
Writers who wish to join the Partner Program will need to apply and be approved before moving on to accept the program terms, connect a payout account linked to an active bank account, and submit tax forms. Currently, enrollment in the Partner Program is only available in the following countries*:

Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom, and the United States

You will be asked to fill in your email/medium link/country/number of followers and to confirm you are over 18.

Then you just have to wait for up to 3 days
