The new reality in a world that everything is about profit

During the Covid Crisis, companies had to adjust to the new reality. For the first time, remote work went up to 85-90% in major companies around the globe. After the first months, all people start to work from their houses, and big meetings taking place in ZOOM, Webex, or other platforms. Then companies realized one thing.

It Works!

Sure some improvements are needed but it works! We can work like this and guess what, it is cheaper. Less Power fewer People needed and in the long game, fewer buildings and structure expenses, etc.

The new reality

People rejoice that the crisis is over but the crisis in the business world is about to begin. In a world that everything is about profit, once the companies put their hands in the honey jar , there is no turning back.

Companies had a long period to try out, see mistakes, and improve-monetize the process and all this in a state-sponsored environment. Now they are ready to keep the new model of labor.

Unfortunately for normal people, a bad storm is coming because the need will shorten for people to work.

Also the coffee shop in the next street,the restaurant for lunch break, and other places that "Serve" a company building will see their money disappear.

An example in Europe

My brother is working in SONY in Brussels Belgium as a project Manager. Every year the "financial department" gives an order for 2-3 people to be fired in the sector he is working. This year the people fired ... was 30! 30! This is 10 times more than normal. Why? They don't need so many people now... and even if a few people are left to do the job which means the same pay double work, they will say to you.... Yes but you work from your home! Also, Sony is closing one department from Belgium. Why? Why live in Belgium, one of the expensive countries in Europe with a rent of 1200 Euro when you can work from Romania with 200 Euro Rent. We need you online we don't need you to live 5km from the office. And this is a new reality. And this reality is beginning now. Imagine the effect of this and how the economic landscape will change in the next 10-15 years.

Pros and Cons

Some people say when there is change there is also progress. And yes if you can deliver goods in someone's house or you have stocks in medicine or online platforms you will have this change to your advantage. Another positive is that many people will experience total freedom because the place that they live in will have nothing to do with the place of the actual world. So there are some Pros. But what about the people who are not "well placed" What about the Cons .... Imagine how many people will struggle for work... As time passes i see Millions to suffer from this ... A great depression is coming and unfortunately, my guess is that the world will split in half. The skillful and the skilless
The fed and the hungry... Sounds Dark? Sounds to much?
I hope so!

Bottomline

I am sorry if you find this post pessimistic but in a world that cares ONLY about profit I don't see compassion for human life, and I feel uneasy about what is gonna come in the next years... Let me know what you think. Is it a radical way of thinking? Or is the truth not far from this post?
