I hope I come across as fair here, but I should start by saying I don't believe in the whole idol worshiping thing most people fall into when it comes to crypto. The creators of these tokens, starting from Satoshi (if he's even real, or one guy at that) are human or humans, and as such they are flawed and motivated by the same things as the rest of us.

All that being said, I think the almost cultist reverence in the space, and the particular way some of the leaders in the space tend to communicate, actually confuse people, or better said, people read whatever they want from their posts.

Probably the best example of someone who is constantly "interpreted" in all different ways must be Dan Larimer, known in the crypto space as bytemaster7. The creator of Bitshares, Steem (now Hive) and EOS, has been around for a long time, and even though his main gig is development, he's a darn good writer and author.

This is not to say I agree with everything he says, but that his points are worth considering and that more often than not they require some brain power to be processed. This, however, does not make him exempt from "being flawed", like you or me, for that matter.

In my opinion the misplaced expectations is what keeps on making everyone upset about his ways. In simpler terms, Dan is expected to work for the betterment of man kind, and not worry about making money for himself.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think he's been saying otherwise since the beginning.

If I'm not being clear, let me pose the following questions: Why did Dan "abandon" Bitshares? Why did he "abandon" Steem? Why did he now "abandon" EOS?

Now as you ponder on the reasons, and as you try to come up with something deep and somewhat epic, read again his tweet.

Unresolved Dichotomy

It seems extremely difficult to balance it all. How to make a project that allows people to build businesses on top of, while at the same remaining relevant and needed by said project to keep on making the benjamins.

This might be upsetting to a few, but it's not unreasonable at all. Regardless of how you slice the cake, people want to get paid, and the size of these projects make sure that the cake partitioning is among a sizable team.

But if you read the replies

If you dig into what Dan usually says and what his followers understand, the disconnect is not only apparent but quite painful.

Are we about to moon? Some might say. Oh wow, Dan is predicting a $25 EOS! Others exclaim and I can't help but to face palm through it all.

Will Dan move on to the next project? Well, I don't know when. Since quitting his position as CTO he's been somewhat quiet, but I would not be surprised if soon an announcement was made, and guess what.

Good for him... “It's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog.”
