I had never really looked into dydx before, BUT, the fact that they chose Cosmos SDK, is significant, because if executed correctly, could showcase an off-ramp from Ethereum's slow layer-1 that's expensive to settle transactions on and the supply of ETH is heavily centralized in the hands of the major insiders.
This could, in theory, enable UniSwap to make such a big transition move as well. The largest DEX shouldn't be dependent upon Layer-1 Ethereum, it's only going to create bottlenecks in tx throughput.
Since THORChain is also built on Cosmos, there's so much "there" there. Gravity Bridge links to Ethereum, too.
