Today we have a beauty, a Henry VIII Silver Sovereign Style Penny minted between 1526 to 1544. The coin itself does not hold a lot of value in silver content being less than £1 but the coin itself is a thing of beauty with a value of around £60 to £70 which is a steal for something 500 years old.

The coin was minted in Durham which is situated in the North East of England and this was done under Bishop Thomas Wolsey and his initials can be found on the reverse, the design is similar to the very first gold sovereign minted, other things to note about this coin is that it is a trefoil which can be seen just to right of the Kings head.

I will continue to try and find quality coins to put under the microscope and if you want more info on this coin or others www.numista.com is a vast wealth of knowledge.

The images in this post where taken by me on a Mustool G1200 digital microscope, these are great for close up work and great for photos and videos.
