Hive ecosystem coins make up a significant part of my crypto investments. That's why I'm watching the price performance of Hive, SPS, and Leo closely.

The price change of Hive, SPS, and Leo from year to date compared to Bitcoin and Ethereum is given in the table below.

CoinYear-To-Date Price ChangeAPY
Bitcoin-65%N/A
Ethereum-66%3%-6%
Hive-78%15%-19%
Leo-77%15%-37%
SPS-82%27%-53%

It is a more objective approach to compare the price performance of coins by considering their returns. I added the staking returns of the coins to the table.

It is not possible to earn a significant passive income on Bitcoin. Therefore, it would be appropriate to consider Bitcoin's return as zero. Ethereum's staking revenue was around 3% for most of the year. Binance and Lido promise higher returns in exchange for Ethereum staking. That's why I included two separate figures in the table.

Hive Power's curation return is around 9%. Also, Hive power is increasing by about 3% annually. So the average user gets a 12% return on Hive Power. On the other hand, by delegating Hive Power to @leo.voter, we can achieve an annual return of 16% in Leo. This year, Hive holders have earned an additional 3% return thanks to SPK Network and Ragnarok airdrops. Recently, we can also delegate Resource Credits (RC) provided by Hive Power. It is also possible to earn tokens representing the right to open an account using RC. RC and Account Creation Tokens have yet to be traded on an internal exchange. I added the income of the airdrops benefited by the Hive power holders to the table. Since I do not know the monetary equivalents of the additional benefits of RC, I did not include them in the APY table.

Similar to Hive, we have multiple alternatives to invest in Leo. Leo power provides around 15% annual curation returns. The return of the Leo-BNB liquidity pool on Cub Finance is 37%. I have included both numbers in the table.

By staking SPS on the Splinterlands app, we can get 27% returns. Also, investors staked SPS have benefited from the Genesis League Sports governance token airdrop for three weeks. GLX is still trading at a high value due to the over 2500% APY it has provided. The GLX airdrop delivered an additional 4% return to SPS holders in three weeks. On the other hand, we can get a 53% return on Pancakeswap for the SPS-BNB pair.

Conclusion

Last year, Hive's price increased 15 times. This year, however, its value has dropped to almost one-fifth. The year is still ongoing. Prices may recover slightly in the coming days. I've watched my portfolio shrink almost continuously since the beginning of the year.

On the other hand, the Hive ecosystem coins that I have invested in have performed close to Bitcoin and Ethereum, thanks to the returns they provide. Even performing close to blue chip coins in a harsh crypto winter can be considered a success. Because during bear seasons, the average altcoin performs much worse than Bitcoin. In bull seasons, the opposite happens.

Next year, ambitious games such as Ragnarok, Genesis League Goals, SP Tower Defense, and PsyberX will be launched on Hive in a row. With the addition of Threads, the social media features Hive offers its users have already gained a unique quality. So once the winter of crypto is over, the Hive will be ready for takeoff.
