I'm grateful to @dswigle for organizing #marketfriday.The market Friday plays a vital role in our finances. From here, we are able to know the cost of goods and services around the globe.

Following the market Friday, I realized that inflation is present everywhere, not just in my country. If I was left alone, I'd say we were suffering from inflation because of bad governance, but currently I cannot say why we suffer from inflation.

A new academic session just started over here. We needed to get some school materials for my baby sister. I was asked to do the shopping for her and was delighted because I'd get pictures to post on market Friday with.

I had planned to buy a pair of sandals for $3, but I was surprised to find a pair of sandals for $5. My list and budget had been thrown off by the cost of the sandals. I was able to buy a school bag for $8 after pleading with the seller. He first of all, said the bag would only go for $10. Buying the bag for $10 meant I was going to get stranded. I bought two pairs of socks for $4, $2 for a pair. The price wasn't like this as well, but inflation has affected everything with no exemption. During my school days, we purchased a pair of socks for $0.5, but today a pair of socks goes for $2. I took the opportunity to get myself some of my needs as well. I purchased a pair of Pam slippers for $10. This is the only item that was bought as I budgeted for it. I bought some detergent, toothpaste, spices, and soap for the house. All these cost $4. Other family needs kept popping up, but I had to stick to my list. I bought vegetables for $2. I waited for about five minutes so the lady could help slice the vegetables. I went on to get some dried fish for $3.

These days, I'd advise anyone to not go to the market with a budget unless they are current with the price of what they are going to buy. Also, never forget to take some extra cash with you to avoid getting stranded. I had a budget of $30 but ended up spending over $35 because of inflation.
