If you have not seen the Squid game series, what are you doing?

This gem piece is about the many money lessons I learned from watching this movie and thought to share here.

*A Quick Recap From the movie, we could see that there were about 456 people who are in severe financial debt and are willing to play a range of deadly kid’s games to win 45.6 billion.

Would you risk your life for that amount of money?

Apparently, it showcases the stories of various characters and their money situations. There were some twists and turns, character development, relationship building, and certain parallels between the rich and the poor, groups of people in the society, and so on.

**Underlying Money Lessons Spotted!

  1. Money Impacts Perception We can see how having money impacted the way people are treated as seen in a character's story in the movie. Even his family members saw him as a deadbeat guy and had no respect for him. In a way, this also affected his perception of himself with thoughts of low self-worth and low self-esteem. Lesson:* Regardless of where we are financial, we should understand our self-worth does not solely depend on the size of our pocket.

  2. *Money Comes, Money Goes! The speed with which a person can make money is the speed with which a person can also lose it. Now, if the money earned or received is not properly managed, there is no denying it will go the same way or even faster than it came. This was seen in the life of a character in the movie. Lesson: We need to learn to manage and control money and not allow the reverse to be the case.

  3. *Quick Money Comes at a Cost The truth is for you to gain fast money, there is always a price to pay. The price could be small or huge depending on several factors at play. Sometimes, you may not see what it cost you right away but in the long run, it could be your sense of emotional and mental wellbeing, your loved ones, or even your life.
    Lesson:
It is vital for people to understand the price required to attain money and if is it going to be really worth it in the end.

  4. *Society is Manipulated by the Haves We live in a society of the haves and the have not and it is interesting to see this at play in the series. Truth is, sometimes the haves are playing bigger games at the top that the have nots are not aware of or have control over but it impacts their lives. This is actually the game at play in the different societies we all live in today.
    Lesson:
We need to try and understand this in order to not be manipulated by these games.

  5. *Things are Not Always What They Seem People can seem to have it all together on the outside, on social media, etc. but the truth is they may be dealing with serious financial issues on the inside. Lesson: Never envy nor be jealous of anyone as you may be doing better.

  6. *The gift of Tomorrow is not Promised Sometimes we get caught up in the chase and fail to realize the most important things in life. As seen in the life of a character whom part of his financial motivation was to take care of his family, eventually lost his mom to death even after he had actualized his financial goal.
    Lesson:
We need to reflect on life from time to time, make sure there is a balance, enjoy life here and there, and not get lost in the chase.

I enjoyed the fact that there was an element of lessons to learn beyond the great show and entertainment served by this series.

As always, let me know your thoughts.
