WAKING UP TO NO MORE SOCIALS, A WAKE-UP CALL?

My heart raced for a minute. Grabbing my phone as I dashed out the door, I realized a friend and two close family members had left me several missed calls. I had been in a series of meetings that spanned through hours with little to no break and my phone was on silent of course.

As soon as I got into the car, I immediately called both family members respectively and was quickly informed that they sent documents that required my attention via WhatsApp with no delivery nor response from my end.

My fears were allayed!

I checked to find out what was wrong and why I was not receiving the said documents from them. Still holding that thought, I reached out to my friend who called earlier. He also stated he had been trying tirelessly to video call me on WhatsApp but to no avail, hence his phone calls.

*As the day went by...

I came across a Business Insider article stating “Facebook and a couple of other apps were experiencing a major downtime globally. To be honest, I could not be bothered to say the least. But then I remembered a few of my friends that solely depended on one or more social media platforms for survival and it hit me with more questions than answers.

Waking Up to No More Socials, What If?

What if we wake up tomorrow and these socials no longer exist? Would people who depend on these apps for their survival have anything left? Was this a wake-up call reminding us to further diversify our portfolio and re-strategize our plans towards achieving our financial goals?
Do we need to re-focus more on building offline relationships we might have overlooked that were indeed worth it but have been overtaken by these online social apps? If this happens, where do we go from here?

My Final Thoughts As much as we are paper chasing and trying to secure the bag online, we also need to re-focus on sustainable offline options in case of uncertainties.
