Media equals power, power equals money,...

If there is one thing that the last three years have thought us, is that the mainstream media and centralised social media are controlled by certain instances. I am going into conspiracy theories about "The Great Reset" and the World Economic Forum, everyone can think about it what they want. The fact is, the current media are controlled into a way that one certain narrative is allowed, and any opposite speech is done of as fake news. We have seen it with Covid-19, we see it with the vaccines, with "climate change", etc... Any narrative that remotely deviates from the one that the controlling instances want is brought down.

The Twitter Files have shown how people that had a differing opinion got shadowbanned, which meant their posts just did not get any visibility. That is pure censorship, and devastating in a democracy, and in science. Debate is always necessary to have a decent democracy and to have a decent form of science.

History of the media

What has been happening now is not new, the mainstream media has always been under some form of censorship, as the powers that be influenced what was allowed to be written and what wasn't. But the upcoming of social media made things different, al of a sudden there were millions of "channels" and "newspapers" shouting their opinions. That made it harder for the powers that be to control this, at least do it in such a way that it went under the radar. That was just impossible. So, the "fact checkers" were there and they slammed us with the truth that was imposed by the "Ministry of Truth". Obviously this didn't go unnoticed, and people started to ask themselves questions, and a counter movement got on its way. Of which of Hive is a big part these days. As a decentralised social medium, it has a pivotal role in society and democracy. Of course Hive can't do it alone, but other networks are standing up too. Platforms where censorship is not an issue, platforms where there is freedom of speech, and room for debate. A place of democracy and science. Not just an echo chamber of the same pre chewed narrative.

Cherish Hive

That is why, we have to cherish Hive, and what it stands for. We are pioneers here, in a world where censorship is more in your face than ever, where dissidents are slammed with a character murder. Hive is a thing of beauty compared to the centralised media that are controlled by the powers that be. This gives us more power than some realise, as nobody can just stop this. This is something extroardinary, and could be the beginning of a true counter movement to the elite that run the centralised media and hence the world!
