Without such targets we might lose ourselves sometimes or move away from them which means that we are giving up on our financial freedom.

You said it very well... I have done similar things in my past... Creating a goal, and focusing on achieving, and it was almost always helpful... I remember 2 loans that I took when I had a computer shop... Both of them paid out a year before due... Thanks to the focus, plan, and of course, hard work... ;)
