Many people improve their life daily with the extra income they receive from cryptocurrencies, whether it be dividends, trading profits or even Hive payouts, and they are already living in the future. Some are even lucky enough to completely be dependent on their decentralized funds. This is a clear example of the power of decentralization and the corrupt influence of middlemen not being in the picture to take a large cut for themselves. Those in the ecosystem are enabled to earn without having to jump through bureaucratic hoops. Of course this means that criminals have the same benefits with cryptocurrency, a well known downside of the kind of freedom we are given with blockchain. But one could argue that the good outweighs the bad, and that the opportunities for the unbankables are immense.

And then there's me, living in Suriname, a developing country just barely catching up to technology around the world. Its not often that I can walk down the street here and mention blockchain to a random stranger expecting to have a conversation. This technological maturity level ripples to other services as well. Or better said, the lack of certain services, services associated with cryptocurrency. Would I want to live of of my crypto earnings, or at least subsidize some of my expenses, there are very few efficient ways of going from crypto to fiat. Let alone paying for things with crypto itself. I've made peace with this though. Knowing my current situation, anything I do in the decentralized world is to benefit my future self. Somewhere along the way the funds I have build up will be available to me through provided services. Meanwhile I continue to build my cryptocurrency empire for a better tomorrow.
