Glad I had my Portuguese Card with me in Amsterdam!

So HiveFest 2022 was great but it did involve me making a number of small payments on small items such as sandwiches and coffee and one 70 cent purchase to get into the toilets at Brussels station.

Having just checked my accounts I actually made a total of 12 transactions and spent around 100 EU - mainly on the travel days and Sunday am - the event itself means you pay nothing during Thursday PM to Sat early PM and Sun PM other than extra top up drinks if you move on the after-parties.

Anyway, I think having that EU card saved me a small fortune on the poor GBP to EU exchange rate I would have got had I used it - possibly as much as 3% so 3EU (yes the bank card rate is that bad) and probably another 8 EU in charges.

So OK not a fortune but worth saving and I'm glad I'd deliberately held back some EU specifically for this purpose!
