More corona-incompetence from the Tories, messing with my income again....

I can barely believe the level of corona-incompetence of this Tory government. Last night they announced a third national lockdown which involves shutting schools for six weeks

It was SO OBVIOUS there was going to be a MASSIVE SPIKE in covid cases carrying forwards into January.

I mean, let's face it, some people would have obeyed the XMAS lockdown rules, but many would have made exceptions for themselves, given they they'd been so good for the preceding eight months or so, and used the break to visit friends and family at this 'special time of the year'.

And so there was always a very good chance that January was always going to be a time of increasing covid cases as the newly infected head back to school and work, with schools being the main transmission centres - kids may not even show symptoms, but they can carry it back to their parents.

So to my mind the ONLY option available to the government would have been to lockdown schools for a few weeks in January, monitored the situation and then back in February or March.

IF schools had known about this in December, they would have at least have had some time to put in place some kind of plans to deal with home-teaching, as it stands, they've gone back from holidays expecting 6 months of regular teaching up to the next big holiday, and now they're back in lockdown again.

What a mess, what an absolute fucking mess.

The Tories also announced last night that 'GCSE and A-level exams would not take place in summer as normal' - NOTE, not cancelled, I can't imagine they'd want a repeat of the zero assessment teacher predicted grade inflation scenario of 2019, so there's probably going to be some form of modified assessment put in place, but once again, there seems to be no plan for this.

This is definitely not going to be good for my income, which relies on the regular exam season for a boost.

Hopefully it won't fall to the lows of last Spring, but who knows with this government, they really are a bunch of incompetents, we could well be facing a zero assessment year like last year.

I can thankfully last out until the end of 2020 assuming I have a few hundred pounds at least coming in every month, but that means using most of the money i've got put by for doing up my land to just live off, and then I might have to look at selling the house in the UK at the end of the year, which is at least something I've been leaning more towards doing recently anyway.

And to top it all, I'm just doing my tax returns for the previous tax year, and I'm looking at a £2K tax bill, while they're putting in place measures that take away my income this year, what a bunch of wankers. Still, at least I can now claim I can't afford to pay it - I'll need that £2K to get me through until Autumn when hopefully my income can start back up again.
