Look at that giant tower in the graph below. Yes, that’s me powering up on the 1st of January 2023 as part of the Hive Power Up day. That’s the only good deed I did on my Hive journey for the whole year in 2022.

@balaz is someone who has been active on Hive for a very long time. I follow his posts and cherish his success in achieving Hive goals. He made a really cool tool to see how users are progressing through on key indicators on Hive. Here is a link if you want to play with it. https://hivedata.live

I used the queries he developed and the results were not that good. They were not good as the number of posts I published on Hive reduced to zero in those depressing months of the ongoing bear market. I was not active at all for three months in between. Looking at the numbers, I once again proved how important consistency is. I was not consistent and you can see the results on each indicator I am laying out in this post.

Author Rewards

February 2022 was my best month in terms of rewards where I managed to have 96 HBD in total payouts. That’s huge for a minnow account like mine. The second best month was January followed by December. It is disheartening to see that I did not have any author rewards for the fifth, sixth and the seventh month. Those are the deep bear market months where I was supposed to increase my activity. Also, look at the amount of hive compared to HBD payout in December. The Hive price took a beating and the HBD payout was much lower compared to the earlier months.

Curation Rewards

My curation APR hovers around 2.5% which is on the lower side of the spectrum. While I clocked out of Hive in the middle months, I set a curation trail to follow. It shows that the tactic worked. My curation APR when I was not active on Hive is much higher than when I was doing my manual curation. It shows human curation requires much bigger effort to match the curation trail results.

I need to figure out how to manually curate yet gain the curation trail hive rewards.

Number of Posts

This is a really interesting indicator and a sad one in terms of results. I was active on Hive in terms of posting for only 6 months. Meaning, I was not active for 6 months out of 12. My best month last year was in December when I came out of hibernation. I managed 23 posts last month compared to 17 in January and 11 in February. It shows how fickle I was with my posting spree. Looking back at these numbers, I am still amused why I stopped posting fun @liketu posts. I have so many photos not used anywhere else.

Number of Comments

This indicator is the highlight of this review. I made more than 700 comments last month in December. The number dwarfs the second best month in terms of number of comments (353) made which was in February last year. I am happy to see the jump in the number of comments which shows the value of threads developed by @leofinance. This is why Hive users are asking for sustained interest in the microblogging platform the Leofinanance is working on.

Use of threads will be an interesting phenomenon in terms of engagement among users if prodded in a desired direction. We are talking about transactions. And, I am not making that up. There is evidence in terms of numbers.

My Conclusion

2022 was a shit year for me in terms of Hive engagement. I hope I have learned my lessons. Keep threading.
