Early Hive Adopter: Katerina Ramm
Today I am writing about a fellow Lion and longtime Hive user, @katerinaramm . She was nice enough to share some insights about not only LeoFinance but also about the entire crypto ecosystem and its trajectory. I usually format the interviews a bit like an essay, but I feel as if her answers were so well constructed that a Q&A format would best serve the purposes of this post. It is always nice to get to know more about the people you are interacting with on a daily basis and the depth of the answers given was not only impressive, but also very representative of the great conversations and information that comes from our community!
Q : Tell me a bit about yourself/background?
A: My name is Katerina, I am Greek and I live in Crete – Greece. My work experience includes executive positions in tourism and digital coordination. Blogging, photographing have been included in my daily activities for the past 3 years and also content creation for my projects. I enjoy testing new social media platforms and creating easy tutorials to share, as well as sharing blogging tips. I recently started being interested in art again after many years and I wish to explore further the NFTs. I believe that every little step is important, as long as we don’t stop moving – I believe in a better world, if we manage to change ourselves first.
Q: Where did you first hear about Crypto?
A: I was searching for online opportunities when I had read about decentralized social media and steemit. It took me much time and a lot of research till I decided to join in October 2017. Many years before that, I had seen about Bitcoin but due to heavy workload, never took the chance to research...
Q: What made you pursue Crypto?
A: Excitement for this new technology, for which I was reading controversial opinions. Could it really be so groundbreaking?
Curiosity of how the technology could be applied as a real use case, if people could actually use it.
Power & Responsibility if in a way I could be part of this technological innovation.
Q: What was your first trade?
A: I actually wrote yesterday about my first convert, that in my case was exchanging steem tokens that I had earned with blogging. I turned it into Litecoin using an exchange.

Q: What is your favorite Crypto platform?
A: Well, there are many but I will tell you about the ones I use daily ..
- leofinance.io – second layer platform on the hive blockchain. My go to place for news, tips, users experiences etc. Not only a very educational and interesting platform, but also a rewarding one, since I can earn leo tokens (on top of hive tokens) by posting/commenting/upvoting/participating in contests (To sign up a new account, someone can use even a simple twitter account)
- hive.blog – I use this & peakd when I want to use all other communities & dApps on the hive blockchain. A user can also be rewarded for all the actions performed in the platforms. (If you sign up with leofinance.io – you already have created a hive account – so no need to do anything else!)
- noise.cash It is a new microblogging platform where users earn bch with their content! It is actually lots of fun and you get to learn the news quite fast
- torum.com This is a new, facebook like platform that aims to bring together all crypto users in an easy to use place. They use a native token, XTM – to rewards their users. It will be listed in exchanges in the coming months.
- I like to monitor crypto prices and I often use CoinMarketCap & coingecko.
- I follow many crypto related websites and I usually get the most recent news from twitter (but also from leo, where I also get commentaries by users) I plan to get more into trading later this year, so I may include some more websites in the coming months
Q: Who is your Crypto inspiration? (person, event or dream)
A: During my crypto-searches I very often found the name / articles and YouTube videos of Mr. Andreas Antonopoulos. I feel really inspired by him, who I got to meet later on as a professor teaching the first course of a Master in Digital Currencies offered by the University of Nicosia

He is a pioneer in his field. He managed to see years ahead of what he was looking at and he is spending so much time trying to educate the world about decentralization, bitcoin and digital currency.
I also look up to all the persons who managed to find ways to bring their passion into the blockchain and especially many women that really tried hard and are doing great!
I would not want to mention names at this point, in fear of missing out someone.
Q: Crypto predictions for the future?
A: I am sure that crypto will rock our world in ways we cannot even imagine. Not only the currencies, but the technology and the ways it can be applied per se.
Q: Tips for beginner traders or people new to the sphere?
A: Please try to be well educated before starting. Don't believe everything you read. Be extra careful when you listen about ‘quick profits’
Q: Best and worst aspects of the current Crypto ecosystem?
A: Wherever there is lots of money involved, you'll also find many scammers and also some will be fooled by them. That’s maybe the worst aspect of this. People get scammed all the time, and then they blame the technology giving it a bad name. Best aspects; the innovation and hopefully the improvement of lives for people in need.
Q: Why should someone get involved in Crypto?
A: Even if someone does not get involved in crypto, we will be seamlessly using this technology in some years from now. I believe that everyone should devote some time in learning about the history and aspects of the blockchain – and see in which field they could enter/contribute.
There is a sea of opportunities out there!
Apart from that, everyone should have a clear understanding about what crypto is, how it started, how it is moving forward. It is all around us, we have a duty to learn about it!
To me, crypto is a whole new world. It has brought many new ideas, many new activities, new knowledge and lots of new great friends! The only thing I would change – is that I should have trusted my instinct the first time I heard about bitcoin but I let it go away … (many man years back)
Q: Have you been a part of a supportive community in Crypto that helped you grow into who you are today? (i.e. Youtube, Telegram)
A: Yes. The very first time I joined steemit, I found out some friends from Greece who helped me at my first steps and then I got acquainted with many new friends along the way. There are many communities on hive, I have special feelings for many of them.
Since I have been mostly active on steem and then hive, I feel more attached to specific communities there.
At the moment I am very happy and proud to be among many LeoFinance friends. It feels like we are sharing the same vision with many of them and it really helps me to read their ideas/opinions and advise. There are some really amazing authors and I think that we need to present them in the future :) (You gave me an idea for one or more posts!)
I would like to take the opportunity and thank my friends from Greece, I know that whatever question or issue I have – they will always be there to help me!
Q: Where do you see Leo Finance in 5 years?
A: I think that it will be the go-to place to do almost anything digital related. They are ready to launch Project Blank that will help re-shape the social media as we know it. I can only dream and speculate, and I hope I ll be there to experience it all!
Q: What has been the best part of being involved with the Hive blockchain?
A: Being a part of a whole new world. Getting to know many real people, acquiring knowledge &
Q: If you could see anything added to Leo Finance, what would it be?
A: It would be amazing if there was a FAQ somewhere visible at all times :) With so many users I think it would be handy!
Q: What recommendations would you make to a beginner user/blogger on Leo Finance?
A: Research, check out what is being discussed. Come join the Discord server, read what other people write. Engage. Don't come for the rewards (only) Join the community :)

Q: Do you see cryptocurrency becoming mainstream in Greece?
A:Not yet, we have a long way to go.. There are many moves by groups of people, but they are mostly interested in profit & trading. In 2020 the first academic course was launched by a renown university (Panteion), I took their class and I think that it is a very good effort for educating the Greeks. I also plan to attend to more of their courses in the future.
Q: What issues could crypto solve for Greece/Europe as a whole?
A: More trustworthy information, Ease of payments. Less Fees. Not middlemen. Quick transactions. And if technology is embraced – a whole lot of new possibilities in many fields of our daily lives!
