Behind The Name

Satoshi Nakamoto is a Japanese name and it would seem fitting to explore what that name actually means, if we are to come to any conclusion surrounding the identity and origin of Satoshi Nakamoto.

In Japanese the name Satoshi is translated as wise or clear-thinking. As we look at the design of Bitcoin, we can only conclude that a clear-thinking and wise person or persons put this monetary design and policy together. From the halving, to the limited supply and even the difficulty adjustment for mining, it is clear that this was very well architectured.

If one puts ''Naka'' and ''moto'' together, the phrase "inside the foundation" is formed. A clear-thinking, wise individual or individuals from inside the foundation. Seems eerily mysterious to me!

The Message In The Genesis Block

The Genesis block contained a message regarding a second bailout during the time of Quantitative Easing that followed the 2008 market crash. The message indicates that Satoshi was very well aware of the economic climate and broken system that is still limping along today.

Someone who saw the flaws and then created an alternative that actually improved on the failures of the current system, is clearly someone who has a keen understanding of economics or has access to someone who does. The idea that Satoshi is an insider from a certain organization is probably not that ludicrous of an idea.

If Satoshi had privileged information pertaining to the future of finance or monetary policies it is conceivable that he began working on an alternative that would hopefully avoid the calamity he possibly foresaw. This is all speculation of course but definitely worth some retrospection.

Satoshi Had Something To Loose

The idea that Bitcoin is the brainchild of the CIA or FBI is a stretch at best. When you see how government sold off and continue to sell off Bitcoin retrieved from any criminal arrests, it's clear that they see no value in it. Furthermore, Satoshi went "dark" at a very interesting time and was never heard from again.

What was this key time and what caused Satoshi to make an accelerated exit? Meet Gavin Andresen, who was appointed by Satoshi as a key developer in the early days of Bitcoin. Subsequently, Andresen was summoned by the CIA to discuss Bitcoin as he was the "face" of Bitcoin at the time and considered the most knowledgeable. The last e-mail correspondence between Gavin and Satoshi, saw Gavin telling Satoshi that he was going to the CIA to discuss Bitcoin.

Well... That was the last Gavin ever heard from Satoshi. Clearly Satoshi was not an all powerful individual but rather someone who had much to loose if he became the CIA's newest side hustle.

The Confidants

When we look at the the early Bitcoiners like Hal Finney and Dave Kleimann, we see a common thread emerge. These were ordinary guys, yet they were present at the inception as key role players. Hal was the first person to ever receive Bitcoin on the Bitcoin network. Dave was an early miner who mined an incredible amount of Bitcoin, as well as a computer forensics expert.

Ordinary guys with no powerful ties to big corporates or government. Yes, Dave worked for government but that was in the ranks alongside the foot soldiers, hardly a government powerhouse. I know it sounds too good to be true but perhaps Satoshi was just a gift to mankind. As we look back over time there have been men who gave to mankind seeking no reward.

Since Bitcoin we have seen the likes of Ethereum, Cardano, Tron and many others trying so hard to cash in on this technology and yet Bitcoin remains king. I know they are all trying to achieve new and different objectives, such as smart contracts and DeFi. Yet there is much that can be said about authenticity, and I think Satoshi said it well with Bitcoin.
