Yes, it does make sense.
I love generics! I stack them too: generic trade units with the Statue of Liberty, anything that is patriotic, and the prospectors. But only if they are cheaper than Eagles. Last year, generics were selling at far higher prices than one would expect. Hopefully the prices this year will roll back a little.
