It will continue as long as we allow it. The key, in my view, is to keep building alternatives outside what the likes of Meta are doing.

This is going to require the action of millions. Meta has a lot of money and can hired some of the most skilled people. That said, the collective can build around it. We just need to keep doing it on every level.

Hopefully we have a lot of really smart people designed different things.
