Hi Everyone,

Splinterlands have been really gaining momentum the last few weeks and there have been many questions I've seen on discord and sometimes Telegram what cards to get. It is usually personal preference but I want to start to recommend some cards I would probably get on a budget to start with and I still use these cards although they are now at a higher level. At level 1 they are still useful in particular you can pair them with any splinters which is why neutral cards have always been my favourite. I have to add in one card which I call a 'splurge' but to me its a must have if you are play Splinterlands. Hopefully my picks will help some players with a budget but able to find something useful for their gameplay.

Ok, let's start with the splurge item. This has to be the chicken. This chicken is my all time favourite and probably the most used card when I play in the game. It was originally a reward card and I remember used to get annoyed when I get so many but who would have thought these chickens are the most valuable thing. It is a zero mana card which is great to fill in gaps especially those low many games to fill up slots. It you level it up to level 3, you can get an attack from the chicken. You wouldn't believe how many times this chicken have saved me and won a game because of the extra attack it has. It does come at a highish price of $16 but highly recommend a chicken in your collection, it is worth every cent.

Next would be a take I still use is Goblin Mech. Nice tank and attack but it has a high mana of 10. I normally use it for those big games and it does wonders. The ability of piercing is great because the extra attack after armour is broken takes health away which is why this card is so powerful even at level 1. Although the price of this card has gone up but not as much as some other cards on the market which makes it quite affordable still for new users.

Another I love to use recently more often is Centaur. When those snipe quest comes, this card will be one of the choices I would take depending what the mana is for the game. As a mana 4 card, it is quite reasonable and has a nice speed. I did admit I neglected this card before the snipe quest were put in place but now I see this as a gem. Again under $3 at the time of writing surely is a nice buy.

Lastly, this a more recent reward card I love to use is Sand Worm. The powerful sneak ability with high damage can bring down enemies very quickly if their back defence isn't very strong. Although it does have high mana, sometimes I would even make way for this card to make sure it gets included in my team. At under $1, it is worth getting a few more to level up if you are starting out as I do think tends to be overlooked due to the high mana needed.
