Still in my summer house, enjoying my mini holidays with plenty of food and alcohol.

My late grand parents used to spend a lot of time here and the house is still full of their stuff, mostly old clothes, bags, accessories, books, shit like that.

Got bored, figured to dig their shit up like I have so many times before... Didn't expect to find anything special, I mostly do it for the sweet memories it brings back. Sometimes i'll find an old note...or an old toy from when I was a toddler etc etc.

Anyways, here's a small silver treasure I found today while digging their piles up:

A Greek Orthodox icon, depicting Mary and baby Jesus, or Theotokos as we typically call her in our parts:

Theotokos (Greek: Θεοτόκος) is a title of Mary, mother of Jesus, used especially in Eastern Christianity. The usual Latin translations are Dei Genitrix or Deipara (approximately "parent (fem.) of God"). Familiar English translations are "Mother of God" or "God-bearer" – but these both have different literal equivalents in Greek, Μήτηρ Θεοῦ and Θεοφόρος ("Who gave birth to one who was God", "Whose child was God", respectively) source

My guess is it belonged to my grandma, since she was quite religious and shit.

As you can see in the comparison with the two euro coin above, it's a relatively small piece and the piece is mostly wood with a silver front. According to the sticker on the back, it's 0.925 silver. It would be impossible to know the exact weight without tearing it apart and I am definitely not doing that any time soon...by feeling I'd say around 10 grams.

Not great not terrible I guess. Who care, I know I am taking it for the stack back home, alon with my coins and other family heirlooms.

Thanks grandma 😂
