I haven't had much success these days scoring cheap silver in the typical places I am looking in, which mainly is local Facebook groups. It seems like sellers these days just ask too much, at least way more than I'm willing to spend.

But finally today I did manage to score three old silver German Marks coins for a good price.. I don't have them yet in my hands so here is a picture from numista of what I am about to get..

Yep... NAZI silver..probably not the proudest moment of Germany

I do feel a bit weird with these particular coins but hey I got them for a really good price. And in my country we have lots of Nazi lovers (go figure!) so I will try to resell the two for a better price. But I am definitely keeping one for my collection regardless of my feelings.

And in case you wonder, the fat old dude with the mustache is Paul von Hindenburg:

Paul Ludwig Hans Anton von Beneckendorff und von Hindenburg ( 2 October 1847 โ€“ 2 August 1934) was a German Field Marshal and statesman who led the Imperial German Army during World War I and later became President of Germany from 1925 until his death in 1934. During his presidency, he played a key role in the Nazi seizure of power in January 1933 when, under pressure from advisers, he appointed Adolf Hitler as Chancellor of Germany. source

Sounds like Mr. Hindenburg did a big oopsie at the end of his career ๐Ÿค๐Ÿค๐Ÿค

Apparently, Nazis took their coins seriously... when it comes to purity, these coins are 0.900 silver, 13.88 g each!

At the end of the day.... Silver is silver regardless of history!
