Does SEC and other oversight agencies actually do their job in making the system work and protecting the investors?

The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and other oversight agencies are tasked with protecting investors and maintaining fair and orderly markets.

They of course do this by enforcing federal securities laws and regulation. They also conduct investigations and bring enforcement actions against individuals and companies that violate those laws and regulations.

However, the fact these agencies can be effective in fulfilling their mission, does not mean they are not infallible and may not always be able to prevent or detect all instances of fraud or other misconduct.

Additionally, their resources may be limited and there may be challenges in enforcing the laws and regulations in a rapidly changing market environment.
