First, I think community marketing is needed. And rewards for it are also needed. IF some user can be on hive write some post = rewards,

why this user should want more competition on hive to share rewards and work for free to shill hive?

In a classic marketing situation, I would say an affiliate system would be working the best. Simple, success shares in this space faster than everything else.

IF someone would onboard 2 Million people and earn a Bazzilion $, people will follow them.

On Hive it is different because we don't have a centralized entity (owner) that pays for it.

So we need to use DAO.

It will not work for Affiliate ( because payments would be too random, if unfunded or whatever), but for goal setting and funding by the community over DAO.

  • A proposal could work like a Headhunter bounty system.

  • The proposal becomes someone as a leader to set the goals.

  • Let talk 5 top Influencer about Hive ( or bring to Hive).

  • Bring perfect written Hive description that's easy to understand to xyz well-known News sites.

  • Bring xyz Users/communities to the "GET A FREE TRIBE FOR YOUR COMMUNITY" contest.

  • Make a cool Instagram Story about Hive ( or other social media).

  • Show Tech people about " how to build your own Witness server" ( could be a cool tech article/video).

  • and so on.

WEB 2.0 is so big. Not only the major players. It could expand in every direction. There are more then 500 WEB 2.0 sites with a ton of users. And way more apps.

This would work because remember Justin that pays influencer why tron defi is cool. Yeah, people buy also dogecoins because of tweets. So marketing always works, no matter how shitty the product is.

How could it work?

The proposal Leader becomes X amount of funds. These funds can be used to set community goals that are centralized managed and decentralized controlled ( because of dao).

So we become the best of 2 worlds. Efficiency from a centralized controller and security because of the decentralization.

There could be a monthly do-to /goal list with bounties:

Like the points on the top

XYZ = 200HBD ZYX = 1000HBD

and so on.

From microtasks to real hard-working ones. Idea adoption could be much faster.

If well made, this could bring a lot more value to hive than it cost. It can promote the hive ecosystem from dapps to tech side.

Efficiency and inefficiency

A proposal like this would need time, there would be no instant success overnight. A team/community would need to build around and so on. It will start slow and increase with time. Teambuilding /community building + tracking work is a bigger task.

But long term it would leverage the time. Like little seeds that can plant everywhere. For example. Free tribe contests for the community are out, could bring a ton of users/ attention to Hive.

For sure it would be needed to made in a smart way ( and would only work at the point of RC delegations). At the start maybe to only technical communities.

A well-written piece of content in the right place can bring attention worth millions, same with a youtube video that shows how cool hive is from many influencers.

Some things will work better and better if more communities are on Hive. Because it will leverage itself.

In the time our Hive developer has cool ideas and working on cool things, Marketing can leverage the work and bring attention to the new cool shit + Users + more developer/Entrepreneurs.

Would it be worth it?

I think so.

Important would be IMO, it doesn't matter if the user comes to Spinterlands, LEO or whatever. Its more important the User knows he can use everything with that wallet.

Show them the ecosystem and they can choose what they use. If it would be neutral marketing that only shows the base layer, the success would be much worse.

With show everything, more article and news and info can pop up over the web and promote the network by factor 10+.

Would it influence the token price?

Simple. If you don't know the token, it's less likely you buy it right?

IF you know the token, it's more likely. If you also know what it can and what is already there is more likely.

Also, the foundation would become stronger. More users = stronger network.

Marketing is tricky

I think some stakeholders would not understand why 500 words content on Forbes/ big News site can be worth thousands of $$$$ that links to hive. Besides SEO effects, the number of targeted users and reputation is most time worth more.

It's the same in general, the users of these sites are the value. Not the site itself. In marketing never the message counts, only the place the message stays.

That's a point, I think it could end up in mimimimi.

The Value is nothing everyone can notice.

More about funds

I would expect, to get it run in a long-term way. There should be like the HDB stabilizer different proposals. The problem I see here is expanding needed funds can be a Hercules work.

For Example 100HBD a day. Costs I would expect.

20% management/team fee. (only 20$, would be super cheap IMO).

so they would be 80HBD for bounties and goals. ( 2400$ month).

On an Agency level, the return would be super worse, because 2400$ is nothing.

On a community level, things could be handled much cheaper with the right goal setting ( like Freelancer/VA work).

so 100$ would be the absolute minimum. I would prefer more than 200$-250$/day to get real work done (which is also low-end).

Conclusion:

It would be worth it. But it needs to make right. Good marketers are rare and expensive. Like on every other job, the good ones are hard to get. Special to manage tasks in a more complex way.

The huge advantage Hive has against classic marketing work is, it can spread out in the community and makes stuff itself a bit more efficient if the team becomes to a point big enough.

I would prefer to start with @Nathanmars proposal, look how it works out. Special how the community and rewarding works. This is IMO a point that's hard to manage without premade bounties for tasks.

Why I don't do a proposal?

Simple, too much work. It can end up fast in a full-time job. Tracking and Campaign building, Bounties and goal setting, team instructions, Trello group/ Task manager + reporting for hive community + Q/A and so on.

But if you want to do it, feel free to ask me for my help. Feel free to capture some ideas you like for your proposal/idea.
