Hive exposes the hidden Wealth in Socialmedia - 13.1k Engagement Impressions Contributed
Ten years ago, it was never a thing to be a blogger on socialmedia to pay my bills and fund capital projects. However, its happening to me on Hive and lotta other friends here. Four years and counting, it has been a very exciting journey on Hive full of learning, building webs of friendship across races and cultures, engaging innovations, celebrating creativity and gathering wealth. It has been Four years of receiving value and giving value.
Few days ago, I stumbled this Tweet celebrating an achievement of 100 million posts and comments milestone on Hive and I see it as a worthy celebration. It wasn't just 100 million engagement impressions, but it was backed with value distributed to the millions of users here.
I decided to lookup my engagement impressions in terms of posts and comments counts on my account and alt and I discovered how huge its been. According to Hivebuzz, my main account made 2009 posts and 9799 comments, totaling 11,808 engagement counts. My Sports alt recorded 272 posts and 1085 comments totaling 1,357 engagement counts. These, put together, reaches 13,165 posts and comments over the last Four years.
From the above statistics, I can say I contributed 0.0131% of the total posts and comments impressions on the Hive blockchain. Sincerely, in the coming weeks, months and years, that value is going to double as engagement has been highly incentivized at the community level on Hive.
The engagement stats above excludes upvotes/downvotes and reblogs which are essential indices in engagement in measuring a socialmedia's engagement KPI. Such statistics for Hive would have run into billions if not Trillions by now.
It is amazing as the Hive blockchain is helping us to redefine socialmedia as it provides the functionalities, but planted on a decentralized blockchain that allows for users' freedom of expression and control of their assets.
The over 13.1k post and comments engagement on Hive has earned me about 13k Hive (equivalent to about $13k USD at today's exchange rate) on the main layer and even more on the second layer of tokenized communities. It wasn't just a fanfare of social activities that just drained my data and devoured time, it was a journey of leisure work that profits so hugely.
The earnings accumulated from posts and comments on Hive (main chain alone) can be levelled with the monthly salary earned by a government worker starting at GL 09 over 5 years. Indeed, it was a profitable adventure that gave me time foe other life activities.
Over these years, my presence on Hive has scaled from socialmdia to DeFi and craves for BUIDLing. It is just the beginning. The future looks brighter here.
